So my girlfriend got a $100 giftcard to Morton's Steakhouse. What kind of prices are there? We don't eat beef, but I've heard they have excellent seafood. If it's $200 total for the dinner, then I'd rather just go home and cook some chicken burgers, but if I only have to pay for the tip, then bring on the lobster and crab.

I went there 2 weeks ago and spend over $200 (included wine, dessert, etc). I liked Ruth Chris way better and spend less than that. Even Peter Lugers was less.

They don't have prices on their menu silly!

I wanna say, it totally depends on what you get and whether or not you order wine with your meal. They have surf and turf deals for 2 that run at $99....but otherwise, its going to be over $100 per person.

You'd be better off finding somewhere a little more affordable because the one time I went there, I didn't feel that it was all that special.

well its a free $100 gift card to there... hmmmm.....

We wouldnt do wine or dessert. Just some seafood with a few sides. I would just be a little disappointed if we both got lobster, a potato side, and a veggie side for $200.

I'll head over to my mom's for a super delicious steak meal. She cooks better than Mortons, etc.

Just great butcher cut slab of meat and awaaay you go!

100 dollar gc basically gets you dinner for 1, barely. Went to the one in Toronto. Good thing I was not the one paying.

well, her friend at her office just gave us her $100 gift card.

So now we have $200 to there.... that should be enough for a nice dinner. I don't mind putting in $50 of my own money.

Order a to-go meal and then cook something at home to supplement the food.

Morton's is ok, it's better than a lot of places I've been but at the same time there are a lot better places for equal money.

That would be a total waste. You are paying for the ambiance more than the food so you take out the ambiance, yet pay the same price.

Regift it to a steak lover.

I've been to a Morton's and wasn't all that impressed... based on the prices.

Sure it has ambiance... but I've had better steaks elsewhere.

St. Elmo's in Indy.... best steak house I've been to.

My only time to eat at Mortons was in Charlotte NC. The food was absolutely wonderful, best steak I have ever eaten. The total bill for 2 was over $150 and only one of us was drinking alcohol. I had to Diet cokes and my boss had 2 beers. It was expensive, but IMHO was worth every penny.

limit one giftcard per visit? better read the backs :)

??? I have never heard of any place limiting use of gift cards. Discount cards maybe, but gift card which was basically pre-consumption of set amount?

It can get very expensive but I thought it was really good. A vendor took us threre one time for a business meeting and for 5 of us the bill was a little over 1,500 dollars. That was with steaks, sides, appetizers, deserts and like 3 bottles of 100 Far Niente wine.

For over $100 per person I'd rather eat at Alinea or similar. I think about $40 for a steak is my limit. Heck, you can get a killer prime rib at Lawry's with free meatballs and yummy spinach for that.

personally... i'd rather scalp the gift cards in front of the place, and go to a kick ass sushi bar. but my girlfriend's a little more classy than that :) So we'll have a nice dinner, she'll get a drink or two. salads. she'll get crabcakes, ill get lobster. split a potatoe thing.

should be nice. gotta iron a dress shirt when I get home now.

very nice, we wouldn't eat the steak (maybe our cat would?), but maybe we'll just do that and get a $100 bottle of wine :D
