Mortal Kombat V: Deadly Alliance. sucks.

I bought this off eBay thinking it would be cool use Scorpion's spear again (GET OVER HERE!), but, sadly, this game is thoroughly disappointing.

Nowhere near newer more balanced games - Tekken, Dead or Alive, etc. it uses some insane otherwordly combo system. I'm used to Dead or Alive's combo system; you push keys as the hits hit. i.e. punch, punch, kick, kick, punch (as the character does the moves on the screen)

In MKDA, you have to push them much much faster than the character does on the screen, not to mention some of the combos are impossible to memorize for every character. I'm reminded of some

X, X, Y, L, B, A, L, Y, X combo, timed perfectly right (blazingly fast, you should be over with the combo before your character goes through 1/2 of the hits on the screen), and not only that, some easy moves are impossible to do. (I was trying to do some Down-Back moves and for some reason it wouldn't work, Down-Forard, however, was much easier)

Memorizing everybody's combos also is such a pain in the ass that I won't be able to master more than 2-3 characters.

Lastly, that insane X, X, Y, L, B, A, L, Y, X combo does overall maybe 34% damage. WHY I would do that when I can use scorpion's X, Y, A, A combo and do 31% damage with the juggle at the end to possible do even more, just boggles my mind. Seriously, a 4 hit sword combo doing more than some insane 8 hit combo is unheard of.

Play through the Konquest mode. That will help getting the combos down. I love the game, my only gripe with it is the inconsistent collision detection.

Also, they rigged the juggles so if you get someone in an infinite juggle, the damage does down each time until it basically stops.

MK died after MK3. MK3 was quite different from MK2 but it was the only thing they could do to help it stand out from the deeper, more polished fighters out there. As a 3D or semi-3D fighter it's just a poseur.

Save your money, and do like I did.

Buy the arcade machine of your choice.

Yeah, the GameCube controller isn't really meant for fighters. But it's the best controller for all other genres.
