Mortal Kombat inspires brutal killing.

Wow... those kids sound like real nut jobs. I am sure this is going to set off all sorts of negative reactions towards gaming in the media. In fact I can picture Bill O'Riley using this for his typical brain cell killing rant.

I think these parents who allowed their underage kids to play an M rated game, should be made an example of. They need to be held accountable.

An autopsy showed she had a broken wrist, more than 20 bruises, swelling of the brain, and bleeding in her neck muscles and under her spine, the affidavits said.

How can you blame the game for this? What the fuck sort of teens would beat up a girl ten years their junior, and to that extent? I mean it isn't just a punch in the heat of the moment. There are 20 bruises on her, and that takes some extensive beating. These kids didn't just try out one move, they reenacted an entire moveset.

If they hadn't done this now, I can guarantee they would have done something worse, had they had the chance to live their adult lives out in normal society.

It was only a matter of time.

I agree, the parents should be the ones going to jail. Or whatever adult gave them access to that game.

No, the parents should be the ones going to jail for not teaching their children HOW REALITY WORKS. The game is a game, real life consequences is the lesson not taught.

I had Mortal Kombat when I was a kid, I've never done anything like that....plus they were 16 and 17! I'd hope you know better than to imitate mortal kombat moves by then.....

Seriously, these aren't 6 ot 7 year olds, they are 16 and 17. WTF, these teens are dumb as hell. But I guess dumbasses happen.

I'm not quite sure why this has anything at all to do with Mortal Kombat. The original story barely made a connection, this AP one flat out says that the game inspired them. Besides, blaming MK is soooo old hat, you have to blame Manhunt now.

im not quite sure why the OP posted this in both gaming forums where it was allreasy posted twice in OT

its prob in P&N also but i dont go in there

Mortal Kombat isn't to blame; there is a multitude of reasons that must have influenced these kids to develop in such a way.

Someone made a good point earlier, that this could just be a legal strategy in blaming it on the game.

Wish I would have thought of that... Every time I got caught with mushrooms in high school I could have blamed Mario Brothers :|

"The witness told police that Roberts said Zoe had told them to stop wrestling. According to the affidavit, when the witness asked why they didn't stop, he responded, "I don't know; I was drunk."

I think this is the most relevant quote here...

What? No, the parents shouldn't be going to jail, the kids should...just as they are...as adults. It's stupid and tragic, but I see nothing wrong about how it's being dealt with by the justice system.

Underage, 'M' rated.....cry me a river, they're 16 and 17. Sheesh.
