So I have to work in Basking Ridge on Monday/Tuesday so I decided to spend the weekend with friends in NYC. I'm staying at my friend's place in Long Island City (right behind the Pepsi-Cola sign!) and tomorrow morning I have to commute to Basking Ridge, which is *supposed* to be only 1 hour's drive from here with no traffic. Of course, I doubt that'll be the case. The direct route takes me through the Queens tunnel into Manhattan, and out the Lincoln tunnel into NJ, then down 95 onto 78 west.
The other "scenic" route takes me down 278 over the Verrazano Bridge, then up 95 to 78. Even though this route is a lot longer, folks tell me I'll hit less traffic since I'm not trying to cut through Manhattan. I don't think Manhattan traffic will matter if I leave at 7am though. But what do I know--I don't live here! What says the New Yorkers on ATOT?
