Every MORmON I have met in person has been pretty odd, with it starting with Joseph Smith and his lifestyle it really doesn't surprise me. Then you look at the laws they have in Utah and the sizes of many of their families and it all comes together. It's more of a cult than a religion.

The origins of the mormon faith have always been silly. Although to me, all the origins of all the religions are silly.

He was sheltering widows.

That was the explanation offered by the tour guides at the Lion House, Brigham's home in Salt Lake City. I'm not claiming authoritatively that the average age of widowhood among the Mormon pioneers was nineteen but I bet it was close.

That's a lot of young tail. I think the man was a genius. Who else gets laid like that and tricks the world into celebrating for him?

Joseph Smith got all his info from a seer stone he placed in a hat then covered his face in it to get info really from the stars and not angels.

the fact that he was able to survive 40 women nagging him every day only proves his sainthood.

You're certainly right about that. Joseph Smith went down in history as the most successful troll known to man. He took a well known religion, plagiarize it, changing a few details, elevate himself to divine status, and got himself a lot of tail as a result.

To this day, we have grown men who believes in magic underwear. MAGIC UNDERWEAR, folks!

Yep. I'm going with best troll ever. It can't be topped. He banged the world's young and made them put on silly under garments. Holy shit, he must have been laughing his ass off the whole time.

I know a few mormons. they are nice polite people. there ain't nothing wrong with them at all.

Also what religion is not a cult?

Getting married at 14 was common, loretta lynn was 13.

once you hit puberty you were married. sometimes before. such a sad life but understandable for the time.

LOL pretty much nailed it.

for real... we had a lot of Mormon family friends when we lived in Oregon.

by far, the nicest and friendliest group of people I've ever met. I've always said that if I had to join any organized religion purely for the community, totally ignoring any theological beliefs, it'd be the Mormons.

Yeap. I've known a lot of LDS people and families over the years. They have never said an unkind word or not lent a helping hand asking for nothing in return. They never pushed religion on me or my family either.

Grading as a "group", there's none nicer than the Mormons as far as I have seen.

I was about to say.

If there's one reason we should decriminalize a man marrying more than one woman, it's that the man is punished enough already.

Adapt or cease to exist as an organized religion via persecution/prosecution.

The LDS chose to adapt via manifesto. Good for them.

Freedom of religion does have its limits, it seems.
