More XP weirdness

I have been running xp home for a while and I can't seem to get rid of a error when I load a file from MS Word. It says, "C:\...\Desktop\(name of file being loaded).extension is being used by (my name) Do you want to make a copy?
I have had several people try to figure this one out and nada. It does no harm, more of an annoyance, really. You can hit cancel and the file is right there none the worse for wear.
If I had to guess I think it has something to do with my initial set-up of XP and the log-in users area. I am not using that part of XP. Everything loads up without any user prompt.
Anyway, chew on this one if ya want. And thanks for any help in advance. From what I can see this is a pretty awesome message board.
