Don't you love how they totally missed the 300 dollar mark. Amazing.

Yeah...their X1800XL has marginally better performance than a 7800GT and is going to cost $449 vs. $340 for the 7800, and that's assuming NV doesn't cut prices. The X1600XT at $249 seems like a decent match for a 6800GT, but the price really needs to come down another $25 or $30 to seriously compete. The $149 X1600 Pro seems to be the best value of anything, but even there the 6600GT has comparable price and performance.

It is imperative that ATI gets these cards out in quantity. If they stay at MSRP through the holidays, ATI's going to get stomped.

Hello??? Do you understand the difference between MSRP and street pricing? You are comparing the street prices of Nvidia cards to the MSRP prices of the ATI cards. Either you don't understand, or you're working with the very loaded assumption that street prices of these new ATI cards will not drop a penny below MSRP. I'd say that's a pretty foolish assumption.

He obviously got the X1800XL numbers from this site's prediction. I don't know what a 7800GT scores in 05 so I don't know if that part is accurate.

If you meant that this site's numbers aren't reliable... then just say that. No need to pussyfoot.

They may not. What if they are in limited quantities? Then they may actually be higher than MSRP.

On the other hand, it's just as likely that ATi cards at launch will be well ABOVE MSRP. So basing off of MSRP is kind of like the average, and would make the most sense.

We all know they will drop with time. We do not know if it will be right away, or much later. All we can go on is previous cases.

You're just plain wrong. The only card that would ever sell for ABOVE MSRP would be the very high end card, if it had very limited availablility. There is ZERO chance of any of the other cards selling for above MSRP.

Well. I said it could go either way. You say there's no chance it will be higher.

Hmmm.... who has more chance of being correct? Mathematically, I am right.

Have fun on your single-sided spectrum.

I bet you are right on the lower to mid end cards but the top 3 to 4 models will street for likely above their MSRP...then give them 3-4 months and they will have the drops Nvidia has. however over that time itis likely Nvidia crads will drop further in price and still may hold the price advanatge in terms of performance....

The only variable that is going to truly control this is availability. the more and more leaked info coming out is only going to trump up demand and thus the price will start to rocket once etailers see the flood of preorders....

I'm sure they will drop below MSRP at some point, it's just going to take time. My point was that if ATI has problems making these cards, it will be a while before we see them significantly below MSRP. If that's the case, ATI is going to be in rough shape.

I always try to be very secretive about these things. However, clicking on the links I posted at the top of this thread may work surprisingly well for you.

I merely acknowledged this as a good possibility. I didn't even label what I expect, only that MSRP is our best bet at judging these things at the moment. Apparently, that makes me "plain wrong".

I dont think you are "plain wrong"...i think what you are saying is general idea for the video cards that most of the fanboys like MORPH care about...The higher end 7000+ 3dmark05 scoring cards....MOst other ppl are not quite caring about the mid end cards to be honest.....

Theres a 200$ price gap..... in that list that the 7800GT fills. What was ati thinking.
X1800 XL 256MB should be $350.

I still think that all of these sites are missing the X1800 Pro, which would fill that gap. I could be wrong though.

Yes but then the pro would have an even lower core and memory speed and will not be anybetter then 7800GT.
