Yeah...their X1800XL has marginally better performance than a 7800GT and is going to cost $449 vs. $340 for the 7800, and that's assuming NV doesn't cut prices. The X1600XT at $249 seems like a decent match for a 6800GT, but the price really needs to come down another $25 or $30 to seriously compete. The $149 X1600 Pro seems to be the best value of anything, but even there the 6600GT has comparable price and performance.
It is imperative that ATI gets these cards out in quantity. If they stay at MSRP through the holidays, ATI's going to get stomped.

Hello??? Do you understand the difference between MSRP and street pricing? You are comparing the street prices of Nvidia cards to the MSRP prices of the ATI cards. Either you don't understand, or you're working with the very loaded assumption that street prices of these new ATI cards will not drop a penny below MSRP. I'd say that's a pretty foolish assumption.

On the other hand, it's just as likely that ATi cards at launch will be well ABOVE MSRP. So basing off of MSRP is kind of like the average, and would make the most sense.
We all know they will drop with time. We do not know if it will be right away, or much later. All we can go on is previous cases.

You're just plain wrong. The only card that would ever sell for ABOVE MSRP would be the very high end card, if it had very limited availablility. There is ZERO chance of any of the other cards selling for above MSRP.

Please tell me where you got that info, can you share?

The only variable that is going to truly control this is availability. the more and more leaked info coming out is only going to trump up demand and thus the price will start to rocket once etailers see the flood of preorders....

I merely acknowledged this as a good possibility. I didn't even label what I expect, only that MSRP is our best bet at judging these things at the moment. Apparently, that makes me "plain wrong".

I still think that all of these sites are missing the X1800 Pro, which would fill that gap. I could be wrong though.
