More women are owning guns and joining shooting clubs

Svnla

Nationwide gun ownership is at an all time high and now a record 23 percent of women say they own a gun, according to Gallup polls.

"If I'm in an alley and an attacker comes up and has malicious intent I can't bare-knuckle fight him, but I can train with my gun and then if the time comes, I can use it to save my life," Jones said

I think it is a good thing that more people are taking the responsibility for their safety and well being instead of rely on law enforcement (look at Katrina and other incidents).

Even if someone got through me and my .45 HP rounds....the lady has a loaded 9MM right next to her in the nightstand.

Shooting is a fun hobby to get into, and it is even better if your chick likes it (almost) as much as you do.

Yup

It's just expensive to shoot a lot. Especially at the current prices.

Share of Homes With Guns Shows 4-Decade Decline

It's important to look deep into the stats. There are more guns in total than ever before, but less houses in general have one; therefore less people have more guns. But, that graphic I show is percentages, not totals.

Still, I'm really doubtful that 23% of women in the US are the primary owner of a firearm.

And, here we go. ABC refers to Gallup. Here is a gallup poll:
http://www.gallup.com/poll/160223/men-married-southerners-likely-gun-owners.aspx

15% of women are gun owners.

That is more what I would have expected.

That data came from the 'general social survey' which has a long history of showing clearly biased anti-gun research as fact. Google bias and general social survey.

It is a joke in any actual scientific discussion. The director of that group is an anti self-defense nutjob who has openly stated that he "hopes his research showing gun ownership going down will help influence political decisions".

In the past 10, 15, 20 years gun ownership has very obviously gone up... At least in my neck of the woods.

Hell it's almost trendy nowadays, it's very common for educated people to conceal carry or at least have a gun in their car and home.

I know the liberalies hate it, but gun ownership is clearly stronger than ever and only getting stronger.

Good. This will definitely make the liberals and gun control nuts angry. Women should be able to defend themselves and guns give them an equalizer.

No suprise.

My Sister who was Anti-gun for years just got a foid card and 9mm (i think thats what she said). She goes shooting often too.

It can be dangerous to teach your wife how to shoot if you go out and cheat on her. An angry woman that knows how to shoot can be the death of you.

That being said there is a shooting supply place over in St Louis, MO that has an on-site range and female consultants. They advertise that you can shoot a gun first to see if it is right for you. I also noticed that they offere conceal carry pistol craft classes at the same level of combat and police officers. Most saftety classes are not that good.

It is harder to shoot a double action semi auto than you think. Some guns make it too hard to pull the trigger, and if you arent careful a slide on an semi-auto can bop you in the head or hurt your hand.

Aw but Pew Research backs up those results! Let me guess, they are biased too? If it doesn't come from Rush Limbaugh or Fox NEWS, its a lie, right?

The Pew Research Center has tracked gun ownership since 1993, and our surveys largely confirm the General Social Survey trend. In our December 1993 survey, 45% reported having a gun in their household; in early 1994, the GSS found 44% saying they had a gun in their home. A January 2013 Pew Research Center survey found 33% saying they had a gun, rifle or pistol in their home, as did 34% in the 2012 wave of the General Social Survey.

A while back, I was more like "I have other things to spend money than gun(s)" but after the Rodney King riot, Katrina, and other uprisings/crimes with cops no where to be found, I become "better to have it and never use it than need it and don't have it".

That's why I keep my Tiger Rock handy.

Haven't had a tiger attack me or my family yet.

Do you have insurance (vehicle/home/life/ect.)?

I am sure Zimmerman and others like him are thankful that they have the tool(s) to protect themselves.

Nice try to troll. Better luck next time.

I believe 15%. As for ownership in general, Gallup shows no real decline.

Yup. People 'brag' about not owning a gun because it's not required, and any logical thinker looks at it no different than someone bragging about not having car insurance, or home insurance.

I truly think a lot of the psycho anti self defense people have likely never fired a gun in their life. They're scared of them. They don't realize that a gun is nothing more than a hunk of metal that throws out another hunk of metal very fast.

These anti self defense people want to personify a gun, to 'make it evil'.

It's just a difference in philosophy.

Insurance is an aceptance that shit will happen out of my control.

Does your gun ownership connote the same acceptance in you?

Way to use that incorrectly.

What you posted is a retort to someone acting as if a gun prevented a break in or mugging.

That is not what gun owners buy guns for, it is to be prepared in case it happens, and it is also a damn fun hobby.

Go back to your Bloomberg talking points paperwork and find an appropriate response.

And some gun owners look at all non-gun-owning as fools, regardless of context.

And certainly some non-gun-owners look upon all gun-owners as fools.

Do you assume I'm the latter? I don't assume you're the former, but we'll see what else you have to say about the subject.
