More Win 2K woes

Ok, I solved my other problems (see previous post. If you want to know how, just post)

Here are the latest issues:

CD-ROM drive cache: where is the ajustment? The drive spins down all the time, causing games to freeze when it spins back up again. In win98 there is an ajustment for this.

Startup programs: In win98, you can enable/disable programs that load up at startup via the system congiguration utility. Is there such functionality anywhere in win2K?

Thanks.

Yes there is one that it similar to msconfig in Win2K. Do the following.
Select control panel ->Administrative tools->services.

You should see a listing of applications. It gives the name of the service, a description,status and startup(how it is started, which can be altered). You can also view the dependencies of each service that is running by simply highlighting and right clicking on a particular service then selecting properties from the context menu. Could go further, but check it out.

for your drive spinning down, rigth clik on my computer,click on properties, click on the performance tab, and there should be some buttons down there like virtual memory, graphics etc, in there there is a setting for you cdrom.
