You might recall my old thread where I thought I had fried my processor (here). Well, I ordered a new chip and got it today. Popped it in my system, and everything seemed to be ok at first.
The PC powered on, got to the windows logon, and froze. Mouse pointer wouldn't move, and the NumLock key light wasn't lit anymore on the keyboard. I powered off the system, and tried to turn it back on. This time, no video.
I noticed a slight "pop" come from my speakers when I turned it on, and had noticed earlier that whenever I'd hold the 1/8" jack between my fingers, they would "hum". I unplugged them, and tried to power the pc on. It got to the post, and during the memory test, it got to 58mb and froze.
I'm starting to suspect either the power supply or the motherboard. I get power for everything (usb printer powers on with the computer, activesync dock powers on, mouse works) and all my fans run.
Any ideas, cause I'm kind of stumped?
Edit: ok, posting from the desktop now. Stuff seems to be working, but I'm being cautious. Still haven't plugged my speakers back in.
