The state of Virgina was built in 1940? 😕

Words out of my mouth...

That one is out of place, it was supposed to follow the last fact. The Pentagon has twice the number of bathrooms as necessary because when it was built in the 40s Virginia still had segregation laws.

How could this be true? Hemp is not marijuana, it's a completely different plant. It can't be used as a drug at all.

It's propaganda made up by people who support the legalization of marijuana. You'll see alot of it in the CD liners of bands like Cypress Hill. They also support medical marijuana, which I'm sure not all of them have a need for. They wear hemp clothing (see Woody Harrelson) to take one step closer to normalizing marijuana.

people hear hemp and instantlly disapprove of it...so...growing hemp becomes a big problem. it would be awesome if we could.

"Propaganda"? "Completely different plant"? Whatever... hemp and marijuana are the exact same plant and species. Modern "hemp" is just "marijuana" (a word coined by the anti-hemp movement in the 1920s) bred to have zero THC content. The moron brigade is out in force in this morning. And what do you care if someone lights up in their home? I certainly hope you never drink so much as even the smallest drop of alcohol or else you are a total hypocrite.

I could have sworn that the electric chair was first proposed by Thomas Edison in a half-crazed attempt to prove that alternating current was dangerous.

You seem to be off on a couple of facts, Joker.

EDIT: I wasn't completely right. The patent was filed by a man named Harold P. Brown, who worked in Edison's lab, and his chair was promoted by Edison as an example of the danger of AC.

Cat's urine glows under a black light.
So does the urine of UCF students who drink too much campus tap water. (It has insanely high phosphorous content). Lots of coca-cola will also produce this effect.

I'm going to UCF this year... I'll have to try that!

Another reason for hemp being illegal is because of the Hearst family.
Hearst joined support with Dupont, because his company was a major
consumer of cheap tree pulp paper. Didn't want the competition of hemp
as a cheaper way to make paper.

It is in the same family, but it is a different plant. To clarify, I don't want to see marijuana ever legalized (mostly because of the horrid smell), but there is no good reason for the hemp plant to be illegal. I also have never used any recreational drug, including alcohol and tobacco products.

The Hemp Plant
The hemp plant is harvested for its fibers, seed, seed meal and seed oil.
Hemp is a distinct variety of the plant species cannabis sativa L. Due to the similar leaf shape, hemp is frequently confused with marijuana. Although both plants are from the species cannabis, hemp contains virtually no THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol), the active ingredient in marijuana.
Hemp cannot be used as a drug because it produces virtually no THC
(less than 1%), where marijuana produces between 5 - 20 % THC.

They are the same species, just different varieties. The difference comes from breeding, most of which has been done in the last century. This is because, after marijuana was made illegal, "marijuana hemp" has been bred for higher THC content while "industrial hemp" has been bred for zero THC content.
Otherwise, the 2 varieties are no more different that a red rose and a white rose.

Who's spreading "propaganda"?

And I could care less what you think of the smell. Just because you don't like the smell of something is reason enough to imprison 2 million people?

Wrong. Most health texts on the subject say the strongest muscle is the jaw. I would think however, that in a lot of cases, the quads are actually stronger than the jaw.

last time i checked the jaw is not a muscle...

ok, the muscle used to close your mouth, don't remember the name.

The "horrid smell"? That's the best reason I've ever seen for banning marijuana..
