Trump loves this guy. To all those supporters of his that scream freedom... This is what you would be rewarded with. Sad part is, a not insignificant part of Americans would be okay with this.

Hey, as long as the government just arrests the people I don't like!

Spotting an authoritarian government is pretty simple. Do you label a subgroup of your citizens as enemies so that you can arrest them at will?

In a past life, a thread like this would be pretty active.

If the Democrats win the GA Senate runoffs, we'll get to see that up close and personal.

I’m sure you have examples of such behavior that could be seen as a precursor to what’s about to come from democrat rule.

Or are you projecting again? Perhaps we should start multiple investigations about you, one after another, until we find something we don’t like about you. Perhaps we should all start reporting you to the moderators and have your account locked up because we don’t like you. That certainly sounds like something you’d condone as I never heard you complain about such actions when republicans did that to democrats. Or were you too busy planning how you were going to kidnap a democrat politician because you didn’t like their policies?

Take a good hard look in the mirror because you are that authoritarian you claim democrats are.

One can only pray that they reimplement death by firing squad for the mentally delusional. I mean political prisoners would just be a polite term to use on those with a lack of mental faculties at that point wouldn't you agree?

We could declare El-Sisi an evil dictator and invade for regime change. What's the worst that could happen? Heh....

Specters of ISIS aside... what should be done to Governments we oppose? Economic pressure? Should we divide the world into a Western Bloc and a "everyone else" bloc where we do not trade with them unless they behave and effectively join the Western Bloc, contingent on basic human rights?

Would we help or hurt human rights if we managed to economically grind those nations into dust? Would they live better lives if we collapsed their nations?

If hurting them is not an answer that we seek.... are we effectively powerless?

Answer: we don't do anything until we get our own house in order. We're a hair's breath away from authoritarian takeover ourselves right now. What is happening in Egypt will be happening here in a few months time if Trump stays in office.

It is true. A nation on the verge of collapse is in no position to lecture others.

Still... imagining we survive our ordeal.... or pretend we are America cria the year 2000. What can be done about evil regimes? Governments across the world abuse and torture their people. Are we not powerless to improve their lives? After all... the solution for Iraq was to do nothing. Instead we caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. And directly created ISIS by our action. Horrible result all in the name of helping "liberate" them.
