More then 2gb - Not worth it?

Hello
I am hoping that someone can correct me (only if I am wrong) but is it just me or is it really not worth upgrading to more then 2GB of RAM on either XP Pro or Vista Ultimate. Since either one of those only see 2.56GB on my setup (see my specs below).

Mark

Intel Core2Quad 2.4
4 GB of OCZ 1066 RAM
1066 FSB
2 8800 GTS Geforce XFX 640MB total SLI
EVGA 680i chipset mobo
nothing overclocked
Raid 0 with 2 150 GB WD 7200 SATA Drives
2 Partitions: one is XP Pro other is Vista Ultimate (all 32bit at the moment)
Thermalright SI-128 Heatsinc with Thermaltake 120mm Fan
Thermaltake Armor Case with the 25cm fan on side door
2 SATA DVDRD -DL Samsung S202G drives
Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro sound card
Logitech Wave Wireless combo
Logitech G7 Mouse
Thermaltake PurePower 600W SLI Cert. Power Supply
Viewsonic 22" widescreen Monitor

Well, since you are only getting 2.56GB on either OS, it's clear you are using the 32-bit version and must upgrade to the 64-bit version of Vista or XP to be able to utilize the full 4GB.

That said, I find 4GB to be a nice sweet spot in Vista, mostly due to superfetch, but also because it can really smoothen out your gaming experience (since it's evident your Core 2 Quad box is a gaming rig).

If you already have 4GB, you might as well install 64bit Vista. And since you already have Ultimate, you already have the 64bit DVD (unless you're a pirate).

Also, link.

Before you do the upgrade make sure that your hardware will work with 4GB. From a look at what you have the only questionable one is the Leadtek Winfast card but that may be ok.
