I've read that either Win2k AS or S can have thousands of VPN connections, dunno if that is true but anyway they can have alot of them.
Now Win2k P can only have one VPN connection?... and as AS and S have the same base as P the limit of one VPN connection surely has
to be a cap, that I'm hoping can be lifted with some sort of reg tweak or program.

Thanks in advance!

VPN = Virtual Private Network
AS = Advanced Server
S = Server
P = Proffesional

I'm not really too sure as to how to do this. The reason that S and AS can do more is because they have the RRAS application. Win2k Pro does not have this which is why it can only support 1 connection. You may want to look at 3rd party programs that do VPN for your Win2k box.

I know... (I did some searching just now)

but how can Win2k P have the one VPN connection then?

hehe I haven't even tried it.. I'm researching this for a friend and he apperantly has VPN on his Win2k P box which can take one incoming connection but not more.
...and it's not managed by an external program.

how is this single connection made without the RRAS package?

RRAS = Routing and Remote Access Server

and.. can you somehow get the RRAS package into Win2k P???

or a similar program that could support incoming VPN connections from a Win2k P client.

Oki sorry for disturbing everyone.

My friend is a moron ;)

You can't run anything vpn server like in Win2k P, you can only make a direct connection between two comps.

Sorry for taking up your time.

You need RRAS to start a VPN server, or some other external program.

So does anyone know about an external program that can start a VPN server in Win2k P?

OR... stooopid idea, but could you put in the Win2k S cd into Win2k P and than install the RRAS package somehow?
