Just setup the 360 to stream video last night. I have a laptop with WMC 2005 Edition. Did the Rollup 2 Update, and the update to WMP11.
I can connect the 360 through Media Center. [A pain to navigate/add folders so far.. but] I can view the folders/files. The video files [avi] display an icon image, but when trying to play it - it says the codec is not found or the file is corrupt. The videos play fine on the pc.
Searching the internet, one option was to download Videora and convert all AVI files to an .mp4 format. As it stated the 360 cannot play .AVI formats. I did that with three test files. But Media Center cannot find them, at all. An error screen shows up stating there are no files or the folder is empty.
I later found documentation that AVI files can be played, depending upon codec. I'm using the latest klite codec pack. My media file types are all defaulted to WMP11. Most are DIVX/XVID. Not caring about the neatness as I am just getting it to work. 😛
Anyone else go through this? Trying to catch up with what all I can do for streaming. 😀
