More Shutdown Problems!

I just added an extra stick of PC133 to my computer and a new DVD drive. I don't know if it was something else or these parts but now when I tell my computer to shutdown it goes to do so, screen blanks and then that is where it stays. It never turns itself off, like how it used to do.

Has anyone had this problem before. Check my system specs if need be. I really can't figure out what the problem is.

I tried taking the RAM out and booting, then shutting down nothing different happened, same same. I don't know what to do...

Was there no shotdown problem before memory upgrade?
You could try some patches from windows update site.
I used to have the problem with win98. Those patches didn't solve the problem.
I wiped the drive out, and installed windows, well it worked, but what a hassle!

Yes, it would be helpful to know if you had the shutdown problem before you added the components. I wasn't sure from your initial post.

If you did have problems before, some people experience problems with WinME and the 6.31 detonator drivers, or certain antivirus software.

If you didn't have problems before, and since the memory doesn't seem to be the culprit, check to make sure that you don't have any hardware conflicts with the DVD drive.

I did not have the shutdown problem before. But I noticed something the last time I did it. The Monitor did not turn off and the light blink. It just continued as though it was still getting signal, only that it was blank.

Could it be a Video Driver problem?

I just don't want to have to fully format out the HD and start over. That is too tiring.
