I don't know about you guys but I'm having post 9/11 flashbacks again with this whole ISIL situation going on. The media is hyped and seems to be pro war/aggression and the public seems to be scared (probably because of the media hype).

Personally my only concern about ISIL is for the local people that have to interact with them, I'm not the least bit concerned with them attacking or hurting American interests.

So where is your threat level measuring right now with regards to ISIL?

Honestly ISIS/ISIL/IS isn't a factor in the least in my day to day life. See a headline on a website once in a while. Beyond that, I don't give the group any further thought. I don't see them as a spreading threat.

More safe or less safe?

Depends upon what you mean.

Having watched the slaughter of minorities I remain very concerned for them.

Our own safety? I'd have to say more concerned. Now we have AQ and ISIS, and ISIS has a lot of resources and appears well organized. Clearly one is less safe with two foes instead of just one, particularly when that second one appears strong.

I'm more concerned about the global economy. Disruption of oil production in that regions would be a catastrophe. ISIS is clearly ruthless. Disruption of the oil supply would undoubtedly weaken their enemies (Western world) and therefore must be considered one of their objectives.

Meh. There are always well-funded Muslim terrorist groups looking to attack America. I see no reason to assume ISIS is special in regards to us. Iraq and Syria, certainly.

Am I more concerned? Yes. Is it because of external threats? Not really.

I'm more scared about the US Government's increasing involvement in the personal lives of individual Americans. The US Government's activities scare me much more than ISIS, Iraq, and Iran combined. But that's only because I love liberty and freedom.

ISIS is way down the list.

I worry way more about mistaken police violence injuring me then ISIS.

I also worry about domestic terrorists (AKA the far-right nutjobs) that want a culture war, or think that anyone that doesn't agree with them is an evil librul, and thus are fair game. You can see a little of that here on the forums.

Both of these types of people are way way more dangerous to me then ISIS.

Of course, driving to work everyday is still the most dangerous thing I bet.
