Because it's immoral and unconstitutional. Of a majority of people in a Southern state wanted blacks o ride on the back of the bus, or no to get to vote, you support that?

By the way, though, in spite of the narrow win against ending discrimination reversing polls showing large support for it after millions of poured in from out of state, after that money funded things like targeted voter recruiting of gay opponents, IMO California doesn't oppose ending discrimination.

The issue now though, is in the hands of the federal judiciary, who has ruled that the discrimination is unconstitutional.

And the bigots appear to lack standing to appeal the decision.

That would be a valid point if it was clear that a majority of residents actually do support it.

An aggregate of the polls suggest that no, there isn't majority support for the proposition.

So it is, at best, unclear whether or not Prop 8 has majority support.

And if you took the time to look at how the very word was used earlier in the thread, you would see that it had to do with people who voted for laws such as this. Do you read threads before commenting on them?

And imagine the freakout from people complaining about our PC culture, resident conservatives included. I for one have never had a problem with calling people names on either side, and fully endorse their use when appropriate.
