The nice bit about a left tilt saw is that you ussually work with the fence to the right of the blade. If you are cutting a bevel onto the edge of a board on a right tilt saw, you need to attache a face piece to the fence so you don't cut into it. And that little triangle of material you're cutting off has a tendency to become a high speed projectile. (Never stand behind the piece you're cutting!) With a left tilt saw, you don't have any of that. For most cuts there are ways to work around these problems other then a left tilt blade.
Is it worth $100? Dunno - I have an old right tilt unisaw and I love it. I've never worked with a left tilt saw, but it sounds good in theory.
