I am about to blow some serious moola on a cabinet saw. I am looking at the Delta X5 Unisaw 3HP. There is a $100 difference between the left tilt and right tilt versions (left tilt is $100 more expensive). Any reason why I should get the left tilt and spend the extra money?

Not that I can think of. I assume that it comes with an oversized table so it really depends if you plan on making more beveled cuts to the left or the right I suppose.

The nice bit about a left tilt saw is that you ussually work with the fence to the right of the blade. If you are cutting a bevel onto the edge of a board on a right tilt saw, you need to attache a face piece to the fence so you don't cut into it. And that little triangle of material you're cutting off has a tendency to become a high speed projectile. (Never stand behind the piece you're cutting!) With a left tilt saw, you don't have any of that. For most cuts there are ways to work around these problems other then a left tilt blade.

Is it worth $100? Dunno - I have an old right tilt unisaw and I love it. I've never worked with a left tilt saw, but it sounds good in theory.

Well, I went for the right tilt. Save $100 and can use it with my BenchDog ProMax router extension wing. From what I read the only difference is that it is more difficult to bevel with a right tilt. Not a big deal. I just need straight, accurate cuts. Thanks for the help.
