The state GOP has gerrymandered their districts to make it basically impossible to Democrats to win the legislature even if they win the popular vote by a large margin. It's arguable that, at least in part, WI could no longer be considered a democracy. Several other states (OH, NC, etc) also have moved to a place where electoral engineering by the party in power has made legislative branch elections almost meaningless.

Unless the courts step up and stop this madness Wisconsin is officially a failed state, a mini banana republic where party affiliation determines what form of democracy and rule of law you get. That would be akin to stripping the president of his executive powers, which would clearly be a violation not only of the Constitution, but also the separation of powers concept.

Separation of Powers applies to state governments as well as the federal government.

The main reason Republicants don't want Donny playing with the 13th and 14th amendments by Executive Order, is because they know that when a Democratic president gets in, the first thing he's going to do is wallpaper the Second Amendment with executive orders.
