More Potential Voter Fraud in Wisconsin

http://www.jsonline.com/news/metro/feb05/298205.asp

Record-keeping surrounding the Nov. 2 presidential election in Milwaukee is so flawed that in 17 wards there were at least 100 more votes recorded than people listed by the city as voting there.

In two wards, one on the south side and one on the north side, the gap is more than 500, with fewer than half the votes cast in each ward accounted for in the city's computer system, a Journal Sentinel review has found.

Such gaps were present at different levels in nearly all of the city wards and could hamper the investigation launched last week by federal and local authorities into possible voter fraud by giving an incomplete or inaccurate picture of who actually voted.

They also raise questions about the level of oversight of how the city records who voted in each ward - an important safeguard that, properly done, can be used to spot double voting and other problems.

And unless the gaps can be fully resolved, they leave room for critics to allege that ballot boxes were stuffed in the city, which went heavily to Democrat John Kerry over President Bush in a state with one of the closest margins in the country.

I'll be waiting for all the enraged Democrats so concerned about voter fraud during the election to speak their mind about this. After all, it wasn't a partisan concern, it was all about the fairness of the voting process, right (wink, wink)?

I am unhappy about ALL voting problems. The system should be completely transparent and all situations should be investigated. It's too bad Republicans try to hide the truth (whatever it may be) when they win.

Once again the Republicans in Wisconsin have proposed requiring photo ID's for voting. ONCE AGAIN the _DEMOCRATIC_ governor and _DEMOCRATIC_ state reps are shooting it down. Hmm.. Milwaukee.. A massively democratic city/county.. has all sorts of vote fraud going on.. Republicans want to require IDs, Democrats don't... Coincidence? I don't think so.

Hell, I think Bush won Wisconsin.. who knows how much vote fraud the dems are covering up in this state.

Thats odd considering its been all the Republicans in our state SCREAMING for voter reform, even before the election. The Democrats, including Governor Doyle, REPEATEDLY have shot them down..

theres a difference between hiding the truth and gross misrepresentation of the truth.

In Ohio for example, all the investigations could only estimate up to 30,000 (potentially) votes "lost" due to bad distribution of voting machines. Yet the margin of victory was 119,000, so when some republican says "Umm no your wrong" to all the nutjobs claiming Kerry won Ohio, they arent hiding the truth, they are revealing it.

I'm not sure I was talking about anything related to that. ALL voting irregularities should be investigated, regardless of whether it can or will affect an outcome. ALL voting processes should be transparent.

I seem to remember saying back in October that the city of Milwaukee ordered 300,000 more ballots than possible voters.

This is no surprise and most saw this coming from hundreds of miles away.

Nah...our voting system is perfect. It doesn't need any changes.

Are you beginning to see the light?

and in that im in total agreement with you, but I was refuting your "too bad Republicans try to hide the truth (whatever it may be) when they win." comment

I would like to see people ID'd at the polls

That ink on the finger isnt a bad idea either

thats funny considering that the democrats want voter reform at the federal level, but the motion to investigate voting procedures after the elecetion where shot down by the REPUBLICANS in congress, no one was debating the results, what was proposed was to debate the methods, but republicans what none of that

i really beleive that govenrment run under any party has become grossly out of touch with normal americans in so far as campaigns have become a who did what wrong when, and not ideas like it should be

And I would ask why all the Republicans who are enraged that the Democrats are enraged feel the need to speak their mind about this voter fraud, but ignore it when it's in red states. After all, you guys want fairness too, right (wink, wink)?

Seriously though, this is troubling for the reasons I mentioned in other voting fraud threads. Anything that undermines confidence in the election process is bad, no matter if it helps your guy win or lose.

I have no problem with picture ID at the polls. We already have motor/voter drivers. It makes sense.

They do picture ID in Georgia and Louisiana, why is it not done in every State and there should be some kind of uniformity to the voting process.

They are not stupid, Problem is the voting reform the repugs are screaming about enacting would have led to bush winning by 110%. (With anyone questioning the results getting ass-raped in gitmo for being a traitor or shipped off to die for oil)
