I wouldn't mind a few extra provinces added to Canada as long as we stay clear of the bible belt, but I would find it more believable that if the USA brakes up one faction will invade parts of Canada. American pride will not allow any of them to become "part of Canada".

The closest thing to former USA states joining Canada is a merger with a faction forming a new country. I wouldn't want Canada to join another country under their rules if they had a inferior military and economy. Any states that couldn't stand on their own would join one of the factions over Canada even if they get a worse deal. California would just become their own country.

All civilizations and governments will fail and change, that is a fact , so eventually he could be right. I can't see it happening soon like he suggest, but in the next 100+ years , who knows.
Russia as a financial regulator ? LOL......LOL... sorry couldn't stop. I can see the USA becoming more socialist as people look to the government for support and answers, demanding that the government play more a role of helping them solve their troubles. Nasty cycle there. People demand more help, the government doesn't want to upset its people so it helps, which reinforces the idea that people should go to the government when they need help.

I think government needs to take a hard stance on the whole thing. Yes it will hurt when business go under and people lose jobs. But it will put forth the message that you have to do it yourself, you have to be responsible for your future. You cannot depend on government to bail you out.

I mentioned it before that Rome failed the same way we are starting to fail . I hope we can learn a lesson from their screw ups.

I don't see Canada getting any larger if the US broke up. As far as I can tell Canada has little national pride of their own. As far as im concerned the greatest accomplishment Canada has is the largest unprotected border in the world, between itself and the US, a result of simply not being evil bastards.

True, but Russia's on the rise now (BRIC), while the USA and their market economy/free-market capitalism are falling down with them. The death of Investment Banks is the first step. The Venezuela-Russia missile pact is the second step. Deficits piling up, debt increasing, people to bail out, unemployment increasing, etc... the USA is in bad shape, socially (no regulation regarding personal weapons, high crime rates, high poverty rate, high illiteracy rates, etc.) and economically, Russia is rising from its own ashes, driven by its natural resources and will force the Europeans to support them since they provide Europeans with cheap oil/natural gas. They have the EU in their pocket.

They are doing better or were doing better with their own version of a free market but this crash of financial's hurt them and most other countries more then it hurt the USA. The thing is we risen from bad times like this before most recently in the 1980's when most of the economic news was worse then it is now such as unemployment, inflation, etc... we get back into it.

Canadians have tons of pride, but it's a strange type of national pride. It's a pride that's really dependent upon the US. It's very odd.

I think that if the US broke apart, a state like Maine or North Dakota would invade Canada and conquer it and take over its territory. Maybe let Quebec become its own nation.
