I really am surprised that CPS has not removed her children yet. No means of support, clear evidence of intentional exploitation... what else does it take to make her an unfit mother?

I know that here in MI, there has to be evidence that the mother is doing harm to herself or the children. They mean physical harm. Doing/selling drugs, mistreating the kid etc. don't matter.

Yeah, that would never fly in Detroit. No kids would be able to stay with their parents...

Something that should be on Discovery Health. I've seen c-sections from there... they pull 'em right out one after another.

But for personal videos - I thought most hospitals didn't allow taping for fear of lawsuits, etc. Since it was going to be an epic birth I suppose they made an exception but the fact that it is being sold for profit - that's indeed ridiculous.

All of this is just 1 side of the story though. I haven't been looking for it, but has she come out and said any of this herself? I want money for this and that?

How about the docs foot the bill for giving her the treatments for multiple births?

WHY IS EVERYONE BLAMING THE FUCKING DOCTOR?!?!?

He provided a legal service to a paying customer. It's not a doctor's job to judge his patient. Should this chick have been a multi-billionaire we'd have no issues...medical treatment should not be based on that.

Doctor did his job and did it well. It's the chick that needs help.

My views on our welfare system is to draw a line in the sand. Any new cases are a final 'state' award. You agree to no more children while on the plan, you can elect to be sterilized for free paid by the state if you want. Should you fail to meet these standards any new children will not be covered. You are free to share the food stamps and WIC stuff with them, but any medical card will be only good for the original child.

Any additional kids (or even the first) can be given to the state for care. We will set them up in schools and get them proper socialization (vs the current absentee parents now).

Should be cheaper in the long run and break this cycle. It will be nothing like the orphanages of the old day where kids were abused.

If the parents are going to use their kids as PAWNS, we have to take them or suffer the casualties.

I think they mean the doctor that implanted all the embryos in her, he should be under attack by the medical board simply based on the danger to her and the kids.

There is a clear code of ethics that most upstanding fertility doctors follow and whoever performed the procedure for this woman ignored / violated that code. Doctors have to make ethical judgments all the time; that IS part of their job.

That being said, I wish we could all stop extending this woman's fifteen minutes.

Never heard of a hospital that restricted taping... when my little sisters were born my folks were allowed to have a video camera.

they knew that all beforehand via the world of ultrasound technology. they even asked her about selective reduction and she refused.

I and many others believe that it is wrong to implant 6 fetuses simultaneously into a woman who already has 6 children and who is known for having twins. Clearly, there was no need for this proceedure, she was fertile enough as it was. I personaly have something against a doctor doing a proceedure that can cause serious complications when there is no medical need for it. Don't tell me having 8 babies isn't a "serious complication" regardless of income.

I know the hypocratic oath isn't used universally and that it has no legal meaning. But, it does provide useful ethical guidelines. Translating and paraphrasing liberally you get "keep the good of the patient as the highest priority". This was NOT keeping the good (which includes economic reasons) of the patient.

well at least with SEVEN FIGURES in sales, she will be able to provide for the kids right? That should cool everyone's jets somewhat.
