TextThe database has been placed in a state by user <name> on machine <name> that prevents it from being opened or locked. (Error 3734)

Anyone seen this error before? I am having trouble working with this database because of this error. If anyone knows how to get around it please let me know.

Thanks!

you need to have the user that has the database open close it out. They may have a form or report open, which cause the database file to be locked. The other cause is they have the database opened up in exclusive mode instead of shared mode.

Another option is that you are using a shared copy of the Access program. It will generate a lock file on the host machine.
