I just got a 2.53 p4 c1 stepping. It is running great at 3.04. However, I am new to INTELS. I have the setting at 1:1. I have Corsair PC3200 memory in there that I used well on the p4 1.6a. However, with the 533 fsb of the new processor, i am obviously running the memory way below what it is spec'd out to be and capable of. Is there any way to increase the memory bandwith without increasing the CPU any more?

I dont think there is but would love some suggestions from the pros.

thank you

Does it have a 3:4? You are running 160 FSB now which is DDR320 @ 1:1. If you go to 3:4, you will be @ DDR426.

when you run with a 533 fsb processor the 3:4 setting becomes 4:3 and acutally lowers. It is strange, I really dont see much of a performance increase with a 3.04. It almost seems that my gigabyte kt400 with an xp200 runs faster...?

Also, is there any kind of patches that help with intel, like the VIA 4 in 1 drivers?

And, for some reason, my HighPoint RAID setup seems very slow. This is the first P4 setup i have owned, and so far I am not impressed. Is there anything I can do? My ATTO scores barely get over 72000. I have two Maxtors 40gb RAIDED.

I have been reading, and I am at a loss.

One thing though, I do have more memory in my other machine, the KT400. The P4 only has 256 and I am running XP pro.

Thanks for your help and keep it coming please...just trying to learn here.

I dont have that board, but thought the 3:4 was available @ any FSB. You will have to find someone that has it to help you out there. Latest BIOS?

2K and XP really should have more than 256 Meg of ram.

You can install the latest Intel inf chipset drivers. I think XP has them already, but it wont hurt.

can i set the hw strap to low with an 533 fsb processor so that i can have the 3:4 CPU/DRAM ratio?

thank you

yup, if you put the 4:5 cpu:memory ratio
then your memory will run at exactly 160MHz:200MHz(400MHz DDR)

I have the IT7 though, not the IT7 max2. there is a setting for HW Strap, I was just wondering if I can set the HW strap to LOW with a 533fsb processor?

thanks

You do a low strapped 3:4..... that's what I do with my 1.6a on my IT7. I run the fsb at 165mhz giving me a low strapped 3:4 of 444mhz DDR for the memory. Gotta love this GeIL PC3200 Ultra.

Set the hardware strap to "Low" like I did with my 2.4B and BD7-II RAID. I am currently running DDR 430 at CAS2 and the memory bandwidth is great. Give it a try if your memory can handle it.

Just manually change the processor settings.

Correct Settings for you in Particular:
FSB: 133mhz
PCI Divider: 33/66 Locked
Multiplier: 19x
HW Strap: Low 3:4

In your advanced chipset it is advised to set your RAM to SPD. That way it will automatically select the best timings at it's current speed. Also Enable Enhanced Memory Performance, this gives an extra boost.

You might wanna but your ram to 2.7 or 2.8v because these settings will run your mem at 178mhz or 356ddr.
