More memoery - slower???

Im wondering , i ahve an Asus a8n5x mobo, on the nforce 4 chipset, with 4 dimm slots.

i have 4x 512 corsair xms pc3200 ram. and a 64 3700 cpu

I was wondering, is having 4x 512 ram chips going to slow my comp down compared to 2x512 running in dual channel? I use it for gaming and general internet usage

Technically yes, it will be slower. You will go from 1t to 2t. But, IMO, you wont even notice and more memory is always better so in the grand scheme of things basic pc apps will be unnoticably slower but memory intensive apps i.e. games, will run faster and better with more memory.

Trust me, you will not notice.

If it does it will be neglible. If the game used more than 1GB of RAM it will definately run smoother regardless of FPS. Video card determines it mostly.

The answer totally depends on the application or program being run. If it uses more than 1 Gig of RAM, then you will benenfit from the RAM more than you'll lose from having it in four slots.
