Dude, are you Kobe's boyfriend or something? I'm not saying Shaq or Phildo are totally right. But how can you say Kobe is not wrong here? Phil has been around the league a lot and played with a lot of stars like Jordan and Pippen. And even he is saying that he's never seen such a spoiled brat before. Nobody on that team got along with Kobe except for maybe Malone and that was probably out of wanting to keep things smooth to win his ring. Nobody is really arguing that Kobe isn't a good player, it's obvious the guy can play ball, we are arguing that his character is extremely lacking and he has no sense of reality. Pay attention in class please.

last 5 Laker games i saw were they getting whooped by Detroit LMAO. well, the Lakers won game 2, but there's a reason people called it a 5 game sweep.

Sorry, but when you watch the Lakers as many times as I do it's difficult to understand how anyone could ever not see how great Kobe is.

so who has made you the ultimate sports authority on everything great...

and if you have such awe inspiring vision of kobe's greatness why arent you coaching the lakers or at least washing his jockstrap cuz you sure seem to be up on it.

exactly. Kobe is one of my favorite players in the NBA based on his talent alone. however, it's quite obvious that Kobe isn't an easy person to get along with.

Yes, I am Kobe's boyfriend and I love it....

How is Kobe wrong to be dissatisfied with a coach who openly sabotages his own team? How is Kobe wrong to be dissatisfied with a teammate (a supposed "team captain") who refuses to do what it takes to win, even when that teammate is almost making more money than the rest of the team combined? I'd like to think Phil is a man one could trust, but his actions regarding Kobe and the team prove otherwise. I'm surprised Kobe didn't lose it altogether surrounded by such insanity.

Kobe has a friendly relationship with his teammates but in no way is it a close relationship. He is a quiet, reserved man who would rather spend time in his room alone than go to a club with his teammates. If you have something wrong with that then I guess you have something wrong with half of the members of this message board.

Yeah, that reason is the NBA decided that the Lakers would not win the series. If you claim otherwise, your hate for the Lakers has overtaken you to an embarrassing level.

How in the world can you claim to know so much about off-court behavior from watching so many Lakers games? What the heck does that have to do with anything? You have to be getting your information from somewhere else, so where is it?

Ok, now I just think you're trolling. Care to cite sources on any of this inside information?

I get my information regarding Kobe from the people who spend time with him most, his teammates. Just because a man has various sexual relationships out of wedlock does not mean that he spends all of his time roaming the clubs looking for some action. Anyone of his teammates will tell you that he does not go out. Every single person who's ever gone on a Laker roadtrip will tell you he's like that.

Just because ESPN tells you that Kobe is a monster does not mean it's the truth.

Yeah, I went to the NBA offices this summer and stole the documents. Give me a minute and I'll scan them for you....

I'm not going to argue over it anymore. I guess people are just too naive.

I'm not trying to be a jerk. I don't care about Kobe or the Lakers. If his teammates say he's reserved, then he's probably reserved. Whatever.

However, I still don't understand how this relates to how many Lakers games you've watched. And I still don't see any sources telling me that Phil Jackson and Shaq tried to sabotage Kobe. Plus, where's your proof that the "NBA decided that the Lakers would not win the series?" It just sounds like fanboy babbling.

That's what we mean when we say your argument doesn't hold water.

From Merriam-Webster

Naive:
1 : marked by unaffected simplicity : ARTLESS, INGENUOUS
2 a : deficient in worldly wisdom or informed judgment; especially : CREDULOUS b : not previously subjected to experimentation or a particular experimental situation <made the test with naive rats>; also : not having previously used a particular drug (as marijuana)
3 : SELF-TAUGHT, PRIMITIVE
synonym see NATURAL
- na·ive·ly or na·ïve·ly adverb
- na·ive·ness noun

Who's arguing? I'm just asking you to inform me. That's not naive. I'm asking you to show me how you can claim to know all this stuff about the inner workings of the NBA. Right now, you seem a little self-taught (see definition 3) to me.

That's what we mean when we say your argument doesn't hold water.

It relates to how many games you watch because then you can get beyond the hype. You can see how Kobe does all of the little things that make him a truly great player. You can see how Shaq has been out of shape for the last three years.

You can see how Phil purposely does not try to help Kobe in the Laker offense in order to make a point to Kobe that he is the mighty Phil Jackson and you will bow down to his rule. The problem is that the Lakers have lacked talent for the past couple years and was desperate for more help from Kobe and Shaq. But, when Shaq is out of shape, mostly because Phil refused to push Shaq to be in shape, then it's obvious that Kobe needs to be more of a focus on offense. But, then Phil refuses to set screens for him or run any kind of play that would make scoring easier for him. That is sabotaging the team. He knows Kobe could do more, but he refuses to let him fearing that doing so would hurt his own pride. Then, when Kobe goes out of his mind on the court helping the team win, Phil has the nerve to tell him that he's not fitting into the system and so he's hurting the team.

And what's even worse, Phil refuses to keep all of his criticism of Kobe in the locker room and would rather spoonfeed it to the media which hounds the team daily, trying to create turmoil during a tough time for Kobe. The media has proven throughout Kobe's career that they'd love nothing more than for him to fall on his face. The last year they went for the kill with Kobe on the ropes. And Phil just didn't care. His domination of Kobe was more important than team harmony.

Regarding the finals, I'm just not going to bother arguing over it anymore. I watched the games. I have the footage, I have the tapes. Whenever I get time I'll make it painfully obvious for all of you that something was not right. I can't express how stunned I am by the willingness of so many to let their hate for the Lakers cloud their judgment. But for now, if you're hungry for something more tangible, go look at the free throw statistics in game 4.
