I think the gripe here is that you seem to be belittling the crimes that have been committed in the name of Christianity when compared to Islamic crimes. Think any number of witch hunts, or east roman vs west roman empire --- although ill concede that was less about religion than more about pure power play.

I dont have numbers handy for judaism, but it is pretty obvious that you'd have to do some kind of per-capita comparison for the reason you mentioned.

Also, the west did have their enlightenment... but during the dark ages the muslim world was "better" than the west. Example: Algebra. Trade --- a benefit of the wars with the Muslim world was the resurgence of trade with the east... I think the reasoning goes that islam brought unity to the arab world that allowed them to organize and actually form a decent military. In short, the muslim world seems to have gone through several different ups-and-downs through the years, with this being an obvious low point in their history.

christianity killed 150,000,000 in 2,000 years, and almost half was through colonization and exposing diseases to native populations.

christian kings, even the most ruthless, are nothing compared to the islamic conquerers in india or the middle east.
