More IMAP help: Dealing with MS Outlook 2003 for the meantime and planning for the future

Currently, my boss, my dad, uses outlook and does not want to switch to Thunderbird just yet. We are currently in the middle of some very important contracts and he can't be learning new programs in situations like this.

Currently our business email is using pop but we are transitioning to an IMAP server (our first business email was recieved today on that server😀...we have been slow to move over due to client requests)

The problem is, as you know, IMAP and outlook 2003 aren't exactly perfect for each other. Outlook 2003 has saves drafts and sent mail locally, which actually helps with exchange, but is really counterintuitive when used with IMAP.

Using thunderbird, all darfts and sent mail are immediately uploaded to the server, but once again, we can't use that just yet.

Now my question:

If we continue to use outlook2003 for the mean time, can we then, in the future, jsut drag mail from outlook's folders into the IMAP ones? I have done it as a test, but want confirmation before dammning us to failure.

For example, will we be able to drag specific files (those pertainign to the IMAp email account) from the sent mail folder in outlook to the IMAP folder without incurring any issues? Will all the headers etc, all the correct information stay intact?

Same goes for drafts and such.

Thanks🙂

Yes, that should work, and is the easiest way I know to keep all your old mail on the server.
