HOA's are like unions - started with good intentions, and served their purpose, but many are now nothing but power trips and a menace to society.

I'll never ever ever EVER live somewhere with a HOA, regardless of how nice the house may be.

Yea, I hate them. Not that this is nearly as bad, but we just got a letter from the HoA telling us we need to replace our SOD. Our grass was F'd when we moved in, it doesn't look a lot better now. It doesn't look horrible and eventually we will replace the SoD but there are houses that have been unoccupied here for months or years and look like SHIT. Why aren't they making the banks upkeep these houses but they are bothering me about my SOD that, in the grand scheme of things isn't that bad.

Kinda ridiculous...actually beyond ridiculous. I would have moved those blocks and put them in front of the HOA president's house.

I laugh when people talk about freedom in American and yet they live in a HoA. Some of these super strict HoA's are ultra restrictive and suppressive. I know I'll never live in one, mostly because I do my own landscaping and I change it every year, new plants, flowers etc. I shouldn't have to ask permission to plant flowers in my own freaking yard.

Because the banks will laugh at them and tell them to go fuck themselves.

If my HOA put those blocks on my driveway, I would have already moved them to the president's front porch.

If a HOA tried to put those blocks on my driveway I would move them to inside the president's ass.

How hard would it be to move those blocks. doesn't seem like it'd be to difficult.

Did anyone else notice in the OP on the other site the guy mentioned that they were thousands of dollars behind in their assessments, and owed $3k in lawyers fees to the HOA? It's clear that there is some major HOA ridiculousness going on but it's pretty obvious that the OP isn't a complete angel either.

HOAs suck, but if you don't like it don't buy in to one (or at least not into one that's so crazy). If the guy either paid the HOA fees or chose not to live in a place with ridiculously high assessments this wouldn't be an issue.

That isn't an excuse for blocking the owner's cars so they can't leave.

It's pretty obvious from the thread that the management company/HOA is just playing games to drive up their fees. It's ridiculous that they went after the guy so hard and tacked on all the bullshit attorney's fees for a relatively small amount. I am active in the board of my COOP and we don't go after people like this. Someone is making a lot of money off this crap.

I hate HOA's with a passion. I will never ever in my life buy a house that has one.

Yeah basically it is saying "you're behind, so we won't let you get out of your driveway to go to work to earn money to pay us back!"

Brilliant!

And stupid HOA fees are yet another reason to not like them especially when they run you hundreds of dollars over the course of a year. That's ridiculous.

They are probably in the 1500-2000lb range based on a rough estimate of their size.

This should do it, 1 ton engine hoist.

I know, that's why I said there was HOA ridiculousness going on. My point was that both parties are in the wrong on in this situation.

The HOA is more wrong. If it wasn't for them, the poster in that thread wouldn't owe some slimebag attorney anything, nor would he be behind on any sort of blackmail fees.
