As far as the effect it will have in all of those Repub controlled states, absolutely. Their push for predominately white minority party rule in all branches of gov't is as blatantly obvious as Trump's enchantment with the formidable racist/supremacist faction of his base.

I'm curious how long they can sustain it in the face of unrelenting demographic pressure.

The non-Hispanic White percentage (63% in 2012[5]) tends to decrease every year, and this sub-group is expected to become a plurality of the overall U.S. population after the year 2043.

Repubs are going to swim against that incoming demographic tide as long as possible using every dirty trick they can come up with and then some. The rest of America will progressively ride the tide and adjust accordingly.

The coming changes are inevitable. Our young'uns fully realize that it's better to keep up with the changes or better yet stay ahead of them rather than attempting to prevent those unstoppable changes from happening and thus becoming completely out of touch anachronisms and being decrepit from their desire to live in the past.

To me this is what being a progressive is all about. Looking forward rather than backward. Accepting the challenge of finding new ways of doing things that can keep our nation at the forefront of the civilized and progressively democratized world we now live in and into the future.

Made me think.. how are we sure this didn't already happen in 2016 in MI, WI, PA and FL.

Remember the exit polls vs the actual result being different.

More problems in Ga with the election run by Kemp

The Georgia NAACP says it has received complaints from several voters on "touch screen irregularities" when they attempt to vote for Abrams for governor. The group says that the machines chose Kemp, who is secretary of state. In some cases, the machines showed ballots being cast before any person actually voted, the NAACP alleges.

They seriously tried to argue that absentee votes shouldn’t be given sure process protection because their isn’t a right to vote absentee?

It’s a goddamn vote. As soon as you say you can vote this way the absentee ballot automatically is afforded due process rights.

SCOTUS will probably disagree.

Everyone running elections in Georgia should be sued into oblivion at a minimum and probably need some jail time.

Things like this are exactly why the VRA exists. Racist children running things in the confederacy definitely still need mommy and daddy justice department to slap their hands a lot more.

It's rotten down in Georgia...

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...laint-voting-errors-some-counties/1741406002/

The Georgia NAACP filed complaints Tuesday with state election officials alleging that some voting machines mistakenly showed votes cast for Democrat Stacey Abrams registering for her opponent Republican Brian Kemp.

The state conference of the NAACP filed the complaints electronically with the Georgia Secretary of State Office saying some voting machines in two counties, including Bartow and Dodge, didn’t initially register the correct votes.

"We’ve experienced this before," said Phyllis Blake, president of the Georgia NAACP. “They ended up taking these old dilapidated machines out of service. The ones giving the problems. They should have been replaced about 10 years ago."
