Dozens of protesters clashed with police on Wednesday and blocked roads around a luxury hotel where the world's most powerful leaders were to tussle over aid to Africa and combating global warming.

...

Hooded activists smashed car windows and fought with riot police in the nearby town of Stirling while others threw up impromptu barricades on the roads around the heavily-guarded complex hosting the summit of Group of Eight leaders.

bunch of real winners there

Great way of getting your point across. If you are too stupid to legally protest the police should start beating them all.

Actually, send them to Gitmo and watch them cry, better yet, lets ship them to prisons in Pakistan, Iraq, and Egypt and see what they have to say then. Sad how there are so many people that have absolutely no clue.

Nice to see the thin veneer of "respect for the law" come off the authoritarians, exposing them for the brownshirts they really are.

Those protestors that choose to engage in violent or "anarchist" behavior are distracting from the legitimate message that many of these other protestors wish to send to the leaders attending the G8.

Peaceful protest sends a much more powerful message as opposed to crowd thuggery and mob mentality. Unfortunately, many of the protestors that attend these demonstrations cannot seem to restrain their urge to break things, assault the police, or otherwise make a mockery of what nonviolent protest is all about.

Police made 16 arrests as the anti-capitalist, anarchist and environmentalist groups sought to capture the protest limelight that has until now been occupied by thousands of campaigners pressing for an end to poverty in Africa.
How childish....listen to ME or I will smash things.

Every one should have the right to protest something if they disagree, but whatever happened to nonviolent protests in the spirit of MLK or Gandhi? These guys can't possibly think that throwing rocks and bottles at the police and burning cars is somehow going to help change anything. These guys are thugs and idiots, nothing more.....

I supposed the leaders of the unions back in the turn of the twentienth century were anarchists, too?

The security around these events is getting to the point where the people cannot make a point unless they go overboard. Blame the G-8.

Blame the protestors...the increase in security has been in response to the thuggish mobs that tend to congregate around these events.

And what point is made by going overboard, which is a politically correct way of dismissing violent behavior and the destruction of private proverty.

Yep. Raise your hand if you like weekends. People died for that stuff, you know.

Not that engaging in random property damage is constructive . . . .

There will always be idiots, and they will always get the most media coverage.

But the question is, in a world where 30.000 kids die, every day from hunger, and these idiots jsut sit here and talk, are we the insane ones?
