It sounds, at least superficially, that while NV has recently shown off some nifty high-end tech (NV SLI), they just aren't doing so well financially. I'm sure that the almost total paper launch of the 6800 Ultra cards didn't help either. Argue all you want about which is better in what games, but at least the X800 XT PE is available to purchase, and therefore ATI is making money. If the 6800U can't be found, NV can't make money. It's as simple as that.

... and this, which I found very interesting ...LOS ANGELES, Aug 6 (Reuters) - Shares of Nvidia Corp. <NVDA.O> fell 32 percent on Friday, the day after the chip designer posted a sharp drop in sales, which were hurt by weak prices for its low- and mid-range products and lower than expected demand for advanced graphics.
The company's stock, which fell to a 17-month low, had been on a downward slide since June. It has been hurt by fears of market-share losses to Intel Corp. <INTC.O> for low-end graphics processors and to ATI Technologies Inc. <ATYT.O> for mid-range and advanced PC graphics parts, and analysts said those concerns were borne out by Thursday's results.
Alger said there was still some promise for the company but added in a note to clients, "(Nvidia's) revenue stream has essentially been stagnant since (the second quarter of 2003) even as ATI, its only real competitor, has doubled its revenues during the same period."
