After seeing the mime on the ladder trick last week, I thought back. I had seen that same guy back in 2004 on the same street, but doing a different trick. Here he is motionless balanced on a heel, a foot, and the toy dog. (The leash is solid). It was a very eye catching pose. Also worthy of note - this was pre Katrina - and the obne in the other thread is post Katrina. This guy is a survivor!

Then, I started thinking of as trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina where I captured two other "posers." This one was great - looked like a marble statue.

Mime 2

Then I saw another one close by - totally different . . .

What ever the tourists drop in their bucket. SOme of them consider it art and do it because they want to express themselves.

I have seen those people (like pic 2) throughout Italy when I was there Summer of 06. I thought they were statues.....until they moved!

Yeah - they do eventually move and change positions to become a different statue. Next time I'm in Italy, I'll look for them. 🙂

What city?

That's a good shot, Severian. Last time I was in Vienna was the summer of 2000. I didn't see any then. It really is an art form, and seems to be more popular now.

Thanks. That's from my old Canon S2 IS, I've always been impressed with the image quality it's capable of. Sadly, I inadvertently left it on a train from Vienna to Innsbruck a couple days later. My homeowners insurance covered most of the loss, but I had probably 100 pictures on the memory card I hadn't uploaded yet and will never see again:brokenheart:

I've got a couple more, from an older Olympus digicam:

Golden Mime

My son giving one a Euro...

Both in Rome, February 2005. My kids always seem to get a kick out of them.

There is a good number of those in San Francisco (by the Wharf/Pier 39) and on Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade.

Big deal - I get paid for sitting still in my desk chair and only periodically moving my fingers.

😉
