Pasco County had successfully lobbied state lawmakers to include $35 million in the budget for a sports complex in Odessa that would provide "community facilities serving general recreation, youth/amateur/professional baseball and softball participation, sports tourism, and other programming and events," according to the budget request. It was hoped that the Rays would move their training operations to the complex.

Man, he sure showed them!

On Friday, he said he eliminated the funding because "I don't support giving taxpayer dollars to professional sports stadiums."

I mean, I'm totally on board with that, but... it doesn't really sound like what this was.

DeSantis doesn't seem interested in protecting the health and well being of those participants who have physical or mental challenges. He is an equal opportunity killer. The Special Olympics should have told DeSantis and the state of Florida to go fuck themselves and have the Special Olympics elsewhere.

Florida passed stupid laws last year banning vaccine mandates. To the point that the cruise lines lobbies the Bahamas to require vaccinations to enter their waters, which let them flip the bird to Florida.
