With so many people here from different countries and ethnic backgrounds (one only has to look at Anand himself for evidence of this) isn't it time that there were additional flags for these people to use as their author icons. With the Olympics currently going on, it might be fun to sport other nations colours...

zuni said no last time and gave a reason, I don't remember what it was but it sounded pretty good at the time.

wasn't it something like.. it took 2 days of upgrading anandtech to just add the US flag icon? so if we will be adding other countries or states icons.. will have to add alot, it will take quite some time to update?

Huh?? Flag icons can't be added because it is too much trouble?? That sounds lame if it is the case...

It might be fun but if they don't want to do it, there's nothing we can say about it :(

Off Topic: my parents were immigrants too but there's no flag I'd want as my buddy icon besides the American one :)

Cheers!

I admin a FuseTalk forum, and it takes less than a minute to add an avatar. In fact, we have custom avatars. Same with smileys.

So that settles it - where are our flags?

I believe the reasoning before was that the US flag was added for under very special circumstances. And, if more flags were added, even a UN one, it would "open the floodgates", so to speak.

Hmmm - I am trying to imagine the chaos that would be created if more flags were added... having a bit of difficulty to be honest...

I respect the original reason why these flags were added, but we could justify new flags based on that same reason. Many nations are contributing to the US-led initiative including Canada, the UK and others. Additionally, the Olympics also provides a great reason to add new flags...

I'd like more flags. Somethings really messed up if it took them 2 days just to add the US flag.

If you don't like what the mods set in place, don't let the logout screen hit you in the can on the way out. Why is this so hard to understand? They set in the US flag for a special occasion. Just shut up and deal with it.

<< They should add state flags, too. >>

Yeah! And county and city flags! And we should have flags for holidays, both national and international! And flags for sports and other hobbies! And flags for sexual preference!

WOOHOO! After all... the AT members are the ones who run the forums anyway, right?
