More expensive makeup present = better?

Cliffs:
Co-worker screwed up w/his wife.
He thinks more expensive present = better makeup present. (ie: $1000 necklace)

This isnt the 1st time i've heard that more expensive gifts buy more forgiveness.

Why do women have that mentality?

Oh, I thought you meant make-up, as in, women think they look better with more (expensive) make-up. I always wondered about that, too..

Because compared to what a divorce would cost, $1000 is not expensive?
divorces are expensive because they're worth it in the long run. what are you gonna do, bend over and spend $1000 each time to get her approval? And you know, that $1000 just sets a bar so that if you don't spend more the next time it will just seem like "oh, he doesn't love me anymore because he spent more on me last time." it's not logical but who says women are? 😛

(ladies if this doesn't apply to YOU then ignore it but you know the ones i'm talking about.)

That guy sounds lazy. Yeah, spending a grand on a gift is one way to show that you're REALLY sorry, but so is putting time and effort into a much, much cheaper show of affection.

Sure, some women are of the "If he's not bringing me diamonds he better not even come home" mindsets, but it's very very very few, and they're mostly bitchy sidekick women on bad sitcoms.

I thought that's what he meant and was going to post that there probably is a difference but maybe not enough to justify the cost. Unfortunately it has nothing to do with his point... 🙁

They don't - men do.

exactly.
Flowers or a card would have the same "I am sorry" meaning as a $1000 necklace.

cmon... who are we kidding here 😛
