Well expreview.com seems to be going nuts lately leaking out Phenom X4 benchmarks... here are some more:

http://www.expreview.com/news/...1194231291d6785_1.html

Testing is more CPU bound this time, using the inbuilt Crysis CPU benchmark. As expected, in more CPU bound situations Phenom falls even further behind than in the previous GPU bound tests, where there was a 7.5% deficit clock for clock. This now grows to 25% clock for clock.

To be fair, the 5-5-5-18 2T timings probably hurts AMD performance a lot more than Intel's, but even with better timings it's hard to see AMD closing the gap to under 20% clock for clock in Crysis.

AMD's offerings this past year have been very underwhelming. I think most people by now have switched over to Intel and i can't really see anything here that would make people switch back.

Yeah, R600 was pretty disappointing and now it seems Phenom may be heading down that path as well. The only way AMD can compete these days is on pricing. And even then, the rumored 2.4GHz X4 price is still higher than the Q6600, I guess I'll have to wait for a full review before jumping to any conclusions though. Hopefully AMD gives a better showing in other applications / benchmarks.

Yeah. I hear they are doing well in the server segment, but i know little detail of this to put forward any reliable information.

As it was in the old times, AMD was always a step behind Intel in terms of raw power, but they offered cheaper solutions and that's whats made them popular. So i guess things have gone back to how they were.
