"There is by now evidence from a variety of laboratories around the world using a variety of methodological techniques leading to the virtually inescapable conclusion that the cognitive-motivational styles of leftists and rightists are quite different. This research consistently finds that conservatism is positively associated with heightened epistemic concerns for order, structure, closure, certainty, consistency, simplicity, and familiarity, as well as existential concerns such as perceptions of danger, sensitivity to threat, and death anxiety."

So before you start worrying about the self awareness of others you might want first to remedy your basement level ignorance of simple known fact regarding the world around you and only then turn our attention to the matter of self awareness if you want to have the faintest clue.

The Nazis went a long way with this sort of thinking. Figure out what's different about the undesirables, toss in some heated rhetoric, vilify them, then kill them. It's a wining strategy that's been used countless times over the years, it's always best to stick with what you know.

You mean the way conservatives have been demonizing liberals for generations now?

because conservatives are the ones saying democrats want dirty air, dirty water, don't care about minorities and want gramma to eat dog food.

Liberals have been doing a wonderful job of demonizing conservatives for generations as well. You need not look any further than this forum to see example of such in action.

Pointing out hypocrisy, bigotry, dishonesty and stubbornness in the face of overwhelming evidence, on both sides, isn't demonizing.

Inventing scandals, hyperbole, quoting out of context and use of blatant straw men because you can't criticize them on their actual statements and positions are examples of demonizing otherwise normal people. Now, both sides do that of course, but conservatives overwhelmingly engage in this behavior much more often, not that I'd expect you to take my word for it.

Yes, liberals aren't immune from this bad behavior. However, don't mistake criticizing a policy because it will lead to dirty water as the same thing as saying conservatives "want dirty water."

As a moderate I see both sides demonizing the other side. You are no different than the other team, same coin/different side.

Is everything an "us vs them" thing to you?
I point out fallacies that I am capable of pointing out. Can you say with a straight face that you don't think "liberal" is a dirty word among conservatives. It's a fucking pejorative. No conservative is ashamed to declare "I'm a conservative" IRL. Every time I see someone admit they are a liberal IRL it is always in a way like: "I know I know, I'm a fucking shit head liberal" to preempt the inevitable shit-storm they are about to weather.

Except you are lying.

Obama said the GOP wants "Dirtier Air, Dirtier Water, Less People With Health Insurance".

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/vi..._water_less_people_with_health_insurance.html

You are either ignorant or a liar. Which is it?

Holy shit Josh, lol did you read your own link?
The Republicans plan, Obama says, boils down to this: 'Dirtier air, dirtier water, less people with health insurance.'

"Their plan" = criticizing their plan (policies) you fucking numbskull. ROFL

Disregarding your ability to understand that difference, I am sure you will be able to find examples of the left actually engaging in bad behavior, I already admitted that.

You know that is why he implied and what people heard.

More dramcrat "depends what the meaning of the word is is". Now please show me any republican quote to back up your statement that republicans have been demonizing democrats.

This idiot is demonizing all Democrats by implying that they are all drama queens. He does it all the time lately, too. I think dramacrat is his new favorite word.

That was fun, thanks for the laughs.

As for your ridiculous semantics argument, thanks for more laughs. Pretending that attacking a plan is the same as attacking a person. Read the fucking definition of ad hominem, it's basically defined as attacking the person instead of their position.

I don't think you realize what the word demonize means.

Its ok...go back to being a victim. We'll all pat you on your head, tell you its going to be ok, then give you some free stuff.

This guy is now trying to portray this other poster as someone who is looking for free stuff. :whiste:

this is a great example of why people ignore dramacrats.

You call that demonizing. Its not. Its not anywhere close. But you use hyperbole and victimize yourself because you think people will feel sorry for you. Same goes with gramma eating dog food and republicans wanting dirty air and global climate warming change. If you would just tell the damn truth, people might take you seriously once in a while.

Do I seem like the victim type to you? If anything, demonizing is a slight stretch, I'll give you that. You aren't portraying me as threatening. You are however mischaracterizing me because you don't want anyone to take me seriously. The goal is the same. When have I ever asked for sympathy? Why would I want people to feel sorry for me? Those are unsupported claims. Attacks on my character. Textbook.

That's poor timing. Does Ted Cruz not follow current events?

It seems more likely that rather than being unaware, he is actually insensitive to the notion. That's odd.

Cruz thinks Biden is a presidential candidate? Dumb Cruz as usual. And his "nudge, nudge" apology "wink, wink." Only does one when called out over it.

The inevitable comparison to the Nazis. Even when it is appropriately employed, (this instance was not) it is still uninspired, and hence, uninspiring. And extrapolating Moonbeam's CBD mantra into a desire or agenda to exterminate other humans is the worst kind of mud slinging.

Back up just a little bit, please.

Obama didn't say it is what Repubs want, he says that's what will happen. There is a difference.

Put it in terms of being blinded ideologically to the consequences of their actions.

Yeah, he's just saying their policy position will cause the supposed effect. Let's have fun doing it the other way; since Obama supports 99+ weeks of unemployment he obviously wants them to be permanently out of the workforce because of their stale skills and big career gap, thus he supports higher unemployment. Whee, isn't this fun. Let's try another, Obama supports abortion so he obviously supports eugenics and reducing black populations since they have an outsided percentage of abortions. Hey, I like this game.

Looking back, attacking the person for their beliefs instead of their beliefs started with the rise of Newt Gingrich and the Contract for America. They went into ful overdrive on the Clintons.

Can't argue policy, attack the person, Repub playbook 101.

The problem is that you need to support those connections.
