More channels Without the Cable Box??

We current subscribe to Time Warner's Basic Cable services. And I tried to split the connection to add a connection to my TV Tuner today. Since We only have 1 cable box, so it is still used for the TV, but the 2nd line that goes to my TV tuner is not connected with a cable box. After few mins of channel scanning, I notice all the orders of channels are messed up, but WALA, I also noticed I got couple of more channels that I wouldn't get on my TV. The extra ones are CNN, FoxNews, CNBC, IFC, and ESPN. What is up with that?? Cable company rather want us to pay extra for cable box that will give us less channels?? Thats just wrong.

I have the same situation so I sent the box back. I was not getting a few of the channels either and now my bill is lower too.
