When someone asks for good handling, don't give them a 3500lb FWD family car. Even the S60R has lackluster handling compared to a 330i.

I vote for 3-series with ZHP upgrades.

Easiest way to get better handling, add less weight.

forgot about that car. I've seen more ferrari 360s than elises on the road(USA, N.VA)

but yeah, the elise is the epitomy of good handling. Though ti tends to oversteer easily, in the hands of a good driver, therei s nothing quicker. It's comparable to the Corvette in acceleration(4.3 0-60) and handles better, though options may up the weight quite a bit. Also, it has AC as a option, not standart to shave weight.1980lbs dry wheight with no options.

Any thoughts as to who makes a great handling car in the 35-50k price range?

Mazda RX-8 Shinka Link A Make sure you look at the 6 Speed Shinka Ed.
Mazdaspeed Miata Link
Lotus Elise
Mustang GT (not sure how much they cost though)

I think Nebor will always be a BMW whore 😛 but I agree with him that if you're looking for the best handling within that price range... you won't find it in a TL.

I like Volvos better than BMWs. I'm a diehard Volvo fan. But Volvos of late just aren't that great.
