more Beer Thread: I just found replacement(s) for Guiness!

not that I have lost my love for Guiness, but sometimes I just want to try something different.

so here's my humble suggestion

Beamish Irish Stout

and

Murphy Irish Stout

good thing about Murphy is that it is usually available at your local, 'higher end' supermarket.
Beamish is quite difficult to find, but most British pub should have it in stock.

haha, now i got you all hooked at looking at the bevmo page. think im going to place an order to pick up something on the way home now. btw, ive tried murphy's but not beamish. perhaps thats what i shall pick up. i dont know though, i may have had my guinness fill yesterday with black & tans.

hey Anxi80, did you know you can order 5gal keg from bevmo? it's like 55 bucks for most brew (and it have ALOT to choose from) and it should serve 20 pints (16oz).

ive seen them, they are like mini oil-drums. me and my best friend swore that if they ever had one of newcastle or something similiar like that we would definetly buy one. perhaps the o'side one has a better selection than the encinitas one because at that one none of the choices really reached out and grabbed my attention.

the list for the Bevmo in Pasadena is very impressive. I don't have the sheet with me, but I remember seeing Guiness, Murphy and other exotics too; and suprisingly, they don't cost a lot more than a keg of Bud Lite or Miller.

even though I don't think I will ever host a party large enough to justify a keg purchase, but i really want to buy one just for the heck of it.

They're nice for a flavour change I found... I think Beamish tastes better in Killarney then Cork, and Murphy's has to be consumed anywhere in Derry for it to be truly brilliant.

how can you drink beer? everytime I touch alcohol, i turn very red and itch all over.

That's because you're Asian. This isn't a slight in any way, so don't take it as such. It's due to the lack of a certain enzyme that aids in metabolizing alcohol.
