More bboys on Star Search... East coasters, please help...

KnuckleHeadZoo won. Was really neat too, I liked. Did some really crazy moves in my personal opinion, although I am no expert in Break Dancing. Hope that's what you were looking for Dezign.

Thanks Emrys... I'm glad you liked them... KHZ represents and presents a newer style of bboying, a lot more abstract than the traditional, oldschool style. They have a lot of tricks... definitely what I was looking for, I'm glad they won. 🙂

You were always mean to me so I never told you. 😛

Eh, after graduating from Smith I went back to Texas for a month, and then flew out to Cali with 2 suitcases and $500. Growing up in the midwest and then to the East coast, I was ready for some warmer weather...

What's bboy?

BBoy = Break Boy.

Breakdancer = outdated term.

There's more to it, let me know if you want me to break it down for you and I'd be happy to... 🙂

Breakdancer is an "outdated term" huh? I guess you've never seen a cassette tape or an LP record either, huh kiddo?

Heh... actually, I have a record player at home. 😉 But "breakdancer" is outdated according to the bboys/bgirls who dance now... I guess "breakdancer" conjures up images of Breakdance/Breakin 2: Electric Bugaloo (movies, classics but commercial), neon colors, mainstream 80's stuff... and "bboy" is considered more underground/hip hop. "Breaker" is also accceptable... i.e. "I'm a bboy" or "I'm a breaker", but not "I'm a breakdancer."

Personally, I don't see a huge problem with breakdancer, but you'll get yelled for it if you're around bboys. 😛

What's a bboy?

Random article about a bboy vs. a breakdancer, not sure how good it is, kinda hard to read cuz of the grammar (or lack thereof).

yeah im in highschool, id have to say "Breakdancer" is what a older person whos not in the hiphop "culture" would call it. Its just too long and tacky, thats why its easyer to just say "oh ur a bboy?, or do u bboy"?

Well then why not ask "do you break?" to me that would be practically be the same as asking "oh ur a bboy?"

Its an interesting explanation. A friend of mine from college was born and raised in the Bronx and he said it was the "cooler" name alternative.

In Star Search do they call the competitors just dancers? Or do they elaborate on what kind of dancing?
