More bad news for the UNC basketball fans

Looks like the best 3 point shooter that you have is bailing ship...

Looks like next year will probably be Doherty's last as a tarheel. It's just a question of whether they can beat the 8-20 (4-12 ACC) record they had this year.

They will be losing their two best players Capel and Lang as well as him

You would think the alumni and boosters would say something to the athletic director....

Cry me a river. Ha!

The only worse news for the Tarholes would be if the NCAA would let Jason Capel come back and play another year. 😀

Dam... that shows how one bad year can kill a college team for a LONG time. I guess Duke and Maryland will rule the ACC for a while.

Brian Morrison is no big loss. He's an erratic, streaky, turnover machine. Not too many Heel fans will miss him.

Predict doom and gloom all you want. Heel fans know better. Coach Doherty has the No. 2 recruiting class coming in this year with 3 top 15 guys. Raymond Felton is the best point guard in the class. Rashaad McCants is the best or 2nd best shooting guard in the class, and Sean May is the best power forward in the class. They also added two other marginal recruits and one walk-on. The walk-on was originally going to take a football scholarship but decided he liked basketball better. There were no more scholarships for this class so he will walk on. He is in the running for High School Player of the Year in North Carolina.

The Heels are listed with most of the top junior talent, so recruiting will continue to be strong. That's how you get to the top, with good recruiting. Look at Dook. They have had the best recruiting classes most of the last five years.

<< Coach Doherty has the No. 2 recruiting class coming in this year with 3 top 15 guys. >>

Oh come on. Serge Zwicker was a McDonald's All-American and he still sucked. Players are nothing without the right coach. That's why Dean Smith only won 2 NCAA titles with un-arguably the best talent in the land every year.

Know who has the No. 1 recruiting class next year? NC State. But I think without a proven backcourt, they'll still be lacking.

IIRC, Wake also has one of the top 15 classes coming in to supliment Josh Howard, Danelius, and Taron Downey.

Duke will sorely miss Williams and Boozer, but they do keep the best player on the team, Dunlevey...unless I can convince him he's too good to not go to the NBA. 😉

Maryland is the only team that's going to remain deep next year with quality players. They should win the ACC again.

The Heels won't even get a glance at the top 3. 😀

Is Duke losing both Boozer and Williams to the NBA? They have a young team and they manage to re-load every year no-matter what. They will be contenders again next year.

Maryland has a very good young team... and that Dixon is a hellofa player.. is he back next year?

Duke will not be as good next year as this year. Dunlevy won't be able to carry the team by himself. They'll miss out on the only thing Boozer gives them, rebounding.

Maryland looses Baxter, Dixon, and Mouton. However, Steve Blake (best pg in the ACC?) is a junior and they keep Wilcox, Drew Nicholas and another player who's name escapes me.

GaTech had a team who played well as their freshment matured this year, and they also have a good recruiting class this next year.

Dayum...Duke didn't have a single senior on the roster...Williams will go pro this year, but I think all the other juniors need to stay another year...Dunleavy is the best player on the team but he is not consistent, Dante Jones is consistent and a great defender, but he needs to work on his shooting...Boozer needs to stay simply as an obligation to duke since they have no other big man that can play as well as to stay consistently good throughout the year rather than just play better and better as the season progresses...

Who does NC State have coming in...Miller and Grundy will be hard to replace..I'm sure Scooter Sherrill can handle the rock..plus they will have Julius Hodge, Evtimov, and Melvin who can shoot from outside...Josh Powell will probably be at center/forward again again...This will be 4 sophomores and one junior starting..Should be a great year

Maryland will be hurting next year..Mouton, Dixon, and Baxter(Their three top scorers) are seniors...and Blake might go as well. He should stay another year, but he would definitely be a lottery pick if he left college early...

what a lame slam. dean may not have won a bunch of NCAA titles, but his teams were consistently at the top. That's the point with recruiting, good recruits at least give your team a better chance. Dean's teams never finished less than 3rd in the ACC, and they were only 3rd a few times. Dean Smith had a winning record against Coach K. No one in the ACC can make that claim. Dean's teams won 20 or more games for something like 30 years straight. Dean's teams went to the sweet 16 a record number of times. The things Dean's teams did can not be dismissed because he didn't win a bunch of NCAA titles.

BWAHAHAHA!

No, Dook has the No. 1 class. Look it up.

Just like the missed Elton Brand, William Avery, Shane Battier, etc. No, when you have the No. 1 class year in and year out, you tend to be competitive.

BTW, there is a rumor that Duhon may leave early, and despite what he has said, Dunleavy just might test the waters. That would certainly hurt Dook.

Their PG recruit Sean Dockery has yet to qualify. Now that would hurt. Also, one of their recruits, Sheldon Williams, was accused or rape. The accuser changed her mind later on but that might have been enough to keep the admissions department from accepting him into Dook. He will probably be accepted, but you never know.

Yeah, UNC won't be back next year. They will have a very young team. If Coach D can continue to recruit it will all fall into place soon enough. Not overnight, but within 2-3 years. Time will tell.

You're right...I don't know why I was thinking State was on the top...

From what I'd heard last week, Duke even retracted their offer for Williams. You would think that a school that prides itself on academics wouldn't attrat players like Dockery who have trouble qualifying. Then again, Dook is accused of being a basketball factory.

If Doherty has another bad year and gets the axe, I don't know who they'll get to replace him. Matt was their 6th choice when they hired him. No one else wanted the gig. Personally, I don't blame them. 😉

It'll be a long time before the refs give UNC the calls they got under Smith and stop giving them to Krezewezezeski. sic

Bah humbug! It doesn't matter who has the best recruiting class since Coach K sold his soul to the devil anyway.

Anybody else besides me notice the uncanny resemblence between the two?
