More bad Crucial Ram. Am I I just...

unlucky or doing something wrong????

This is the third time in 1.5 yrs or so my Crucial Ram has gone bad. I have the timings set at 4-4-4-12 and volts are 2.0 as spec'ed. Nothing is overclocked (sig still shows my CPU is but it hasn't been for over a year). Ram has never been overclocked. System has been running fine for 4 or 5 months (since last batch of ram died).

strange thing happened today and I am unsure if it's possibly related. I noticed my Microsoft Security Essentials was outdated. I initiated the update on it. Meanwhile I went to download malware bytes (just found it strange MSE wasn't updated). So i ran malware bytes and when MSE finished updating it ran at the same time. Didn't touch my pc for 3 or 4 hours. Blue screens left and right after i tried to use it. managed to get to safe mode to back up my stuff.

Ran memtest and had 4100 errors on one DIMM withing 2 minutes. Swapped out to another spare DIMM and reinstalled windows (just in case). PC running fine now.

I know I can get it exchanged under warranty but I'm really tired of this. Any chance my motherboard is just not compatible? Any other suggestions?

You are not the only one. I have a q6600 @ 3.6Ghz with a Asus P5E and every 6 months the RAM fails memtest even at stock cpu settings and I get random crashes. I got tired of it and bought some G.skill pi series, but that after awhile started that started to give problems. I called crucial and they told me that the RAM was overheating and that I should get fan running over the RAM. Convinced, since I see heat damage on the slots of the motherboard I ordered one. Right now I'm waiting for the shipment.

I think they mentioned that to me the last time I had it RMA'ed. I'm just not sure i could get a cooler installed due to my VGA cooler (in my sig). It's pretty big.

What kind of cooler did you order?

Yes, Ballistix.

Just got off the phone with Crucial. Very nice tech. He said he's replacing the RAM and sending me a free Ballistix cooler.

I'm just not sure how they install and am hoping my VGA cooler doesn't interfere.
