While reading over there release of the Sapphire X1950PRO AGP here I clicked on the "Specs" link which downloads an Excel spreadsheet with all their current cards on it. (Except strangely enough for the X1950 PRO). Scrolling over I found specs for the X1650XT AGP:

Core: 600
Mem: 1400
PS: 24
Mem Bus: 128bit

It's still TBA but at least they are thinking about it. It would be a great sub $150 card equal to the 7600GT/X850XT/6800Ultra

I saw your score, 7850 in 05 is very respectable.

BTW I upgraded my ram a while back to 2GB. (2x512mb Corsair XMS 2-2-2 $278 in 04 & 2x512mb Crucial Ballistix 2-2-2 $89 April 06) I haven't seen much improvement but FEAR and Oblivion are next on my playlist so I'm sure it will come in handy there.

As to the X1650XT this is the first inkling I've seen of an AGP version. So I thought it was news. :)

it IS news ... i just mentioned that it has been in the works for a LONG time
[finally] ;)

but i think the AGP x1950p will drop into the $200 range {since 512MB versions are MSRP'd at $250} ... the 1600xt should be even cheaper. ... well sub $200

and if my speculation is right ... good news, indeed for AGPers!
:)

gotta LOVE nvidia and its awesome 8800s ... it is already pressuring DAAMiT to cut prices
[and consoles gotta hurt all GPU sales]

:D

Yes ATI er DAAMIT always seems to take their sweet time in releasing cards - especially AGP cards. What's it been 18 months :p

Lets hope the R600 comes out in January and we can see another round of price drops on X1K and 7900 series cards.

With Sapphire, Gecube, Visontek, Diamond, and Powercolor all slated to release AGP X1950PROs I think we'll see some decent price drops. It's also great they haven't neuterd the cards because if you look at newegg there are several models of X1650PRO in AGP and they are all neutered 600/800 or 450/1300 instead of 600/1380.
