Okay i have a Pentium 4 2.26 Ghz (533 FSB), Asus P4T533-C Motherboard, 512 MB 1066 MHZ RDRAM, Also i have a Geforce4 4600 In the system....

I plan on upgrading my system to a Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz (800 FSB), Asus P4C800-E Deluxe, 1024 MB Crucial DDR400 PC 3200 Ram....

I am also putting in a Radeon 9800 XT 256 MB Video Card...

I know what i want, i have the parts in my cart and ready to order... its a bit high of a price but i think its worth it... .

I am mainly a pc gamer person and i want an increase in performance.... how is the new system compared to my old?... will it last about a year or so ?... i have been upgrading about every year and i know the new prescott is coming out...

I will jump to a prescott or something next year... i want a new system now and was wondering how the new one will perform with games in a year and now?.... the parts are set... this is what i am getting... i want an intel, and i want the radeon 9800 XT...

Thanks 🙂

Most likely, upgrading your vid card to something more cost-efficient will be enough. The parts you buy are really expensive: I can tell since you have that 1066 RDRAM, P4B chip, Ti4600, etc, all very expensive components from when you got them.

Unless you have cash to burn, I'd say save it up 😛 It's not going to do a huge difference upgrading to the P4C 3.0. It's much less expensive to stay off the top of the curve.

save up for what? hehe.... i want to upgrade the system 😛.... 3.0 ghz is in my budget right now... could go to 2.8ghz but i figure the 200 mhz wont hurt....

Hey guys, He wants to buy this stuff now and has the money....

Your system will work great and should for the next year.

Then you can do as I will do and buy all new CPU, mobo and RAM to take advantage of the new PCI Express standard.
That should include Prescott, I suppose and whatever the new video card standard will be because we won't be able to put our old AGP cards into those bad boys.

Cool thanks 🙂... i dont want to go with a 3.06 P4 to pop in that P4T533-C....

I want one of those new pentiums with the 800 Bus 🙂

what sort of activities do you do on your computer?

that's an expensive budget for a very minor increase in numbers, other than the ATI card.

i disagree, the extra memory, the newer video card, hell even 800 mhz in more processor speed... add in the 800 fsb and hyper threading support with these new parts and id say its an okay upgrade....

im heavy into pc gaming so i want the top of the line thats out now, should last me a year or so

P4b 3.06 and P4c 3.0 are neck to neck. One's faster than the other in some benchmarks, and the other's sometimes faster. I think the 3.06 is faster a bit more often though.
