Hey wincat, the 9800SE isn't just for the Chinese market. Powercolor and Sapphire have released the 9800SE stateside and they are available from several online vendors. I wish we could get it for the same price as it sells for in China, though! $180 is currently the cheapest one available here. Thanks for the benchmarks - good stuff!

I don't know where you're getting that it's for China only...Search pricewatch, there's a ton of sites that sell it in the US.

and the Powercolor version is available here in New Zealand from many suppliers and seems to be the best bet for overclocking

I am in China. ATi said"9800SE is only for China" when ther leak 9800SE in China. There two edition in China:9800SE and 9800SE Golden Edition. 9800SE is about 100 USD£¨saled with Logitech OEM Mouse),9800SE Golden Edition 1s about 200 USD.9800SE Golden Edition look likes 9700Pro very much,it can change to 9800Pro also, but only 20%~30% can be success(9800SE is 10%~20%).I won't buy 9800SE Golden Edition, because 9700Pro is about 150 USD in China,it's fully 9700Pro......

What I don't understand in those benchmarks is how a 9800SE softmodded to a 9800 Pro could score lower than a 5600 Ultra. A 9800 Pro would wipe the floor with a 5600 Ultra.

i dont think it can truely be modded into a pro: 9800 SE into a 9800 pro + 3.0C = 13300 points in 3dmark???? should be around 18K

Yes£¬it is 9800SE ,not Golden Edition.9800SE Golden Edition is like 9700Pro very much, but very expensive also_Only 20%~30% 9800 Golden Edition can change to 9800Pro success.

In fact,I think 9800SE is valueless, because Ti 4200-8X 64MB is about 90 USD in China. Mr. DingGuo Fan said"If ATi give up 9800SE,then nVidia will give up Ti 4XXXX.
I make a mistake:9700Pro is about 220 USD in China(1799 RMB).

Dude, just relax. Who cares about all these fancy video cards which cost so much, BTW? You know, it's these manufacturers just willing to suck more money from you, always remember that and don't eat their bait. LOL Sorry for this semi-stupid post, but this is exactly what I'm thinking about all these modern video cards, man.
