The first card I bought was broken so I RMA'd it. The second card came broken, so I had to RMA that. I am now on my THIRD 7900gt and I still can not get this to work properly.

I have it and the drivers installed and the computer boots up fine and it recognizes the card. I 'right click' on the desktop, click properties and go to the settings tab and it sees it as a 7900gt. If I go into advanced and clikc the 7900gt tab, there is not an option to change the clock frequencies. If I go into nTune I still can not see the cards clock speeds, it says "Not Report". If I try and run a benchmark in nTune the display crashes. When I boot up Oblivion I get a message saying that it can not recognize my video adapter, and sets all settings to medium.

I tried installing the latest nforce drivers (91.31) but then I comp cant get past the windows loading screen, the screen just turns blank and I have to restart. Im now running v84.21.

System specs:
DFI LP UT Ultra-D
A64 3000+
OCZ 2gb
Antec Neo 480W
Dell 2405FPW

I have both of the power adapters on teh carb plugged in. Ive tried reinstalling all my video drivers. Can anyone help me with this, Im getting really fed up with all of this.

The Oblivion thing is normal - because the 7900 series was released after the Oblivion development process, so it is not recognised in their video card list.

Well, I'd say the first thing is to check all the basics. Download and install Motherboard Monitor 5 and check all your voltages. Even though you don't have a particularly power-hungry system, your power supply might be having problems. You could also try making sure that the video card is the only device on that particular string of molex connectors and that it's fully installed in the PCI-E slot. I've seen a few case/card combinations that would actually put the video card in the slot at an angle because of manufacturing/engineering defects.

On the software end of things, try uninstalling your Nvidia drivers, download and run Drivercleaner. Then download and install all the latest drivers for your motherboard. I don't believe it's necessary to remove the previous motherboard drivers as I've never had any problem installing over the top. Finally, reinstall the graphics adapter drivers.

Just a few generic suggestions.

Good luck!

Oh. I wasn't aware of the "Oblivion thing". The inability to install newer drivers is still odd, though. Perhaps somebody with a 7900GT can chime in and say whether or not they've had trouble installing the same drivers.

C'mon people, simple diagnosis

Let's try to eliminate software problems.

*Download DriverCleaner & latest NVIDIA driver
*Uninstall current NVIDIA driver, reboot into safe mode
*Run DriverCleaner
*Reboot, install latest NVIDIA driver

If that doesn't take care of it, try to use the NVIDIA control panel or RivaTuner to check the temperatures on your card.

If you can't even load a game, I doubt the problem lies with the rest of your system hardware, but we can go on from there.

UPDATE:

Looks like drivecleaner worked. I got the latest forceware drivers installed and everything seems fine now. I tried installing my mobos latest drivers, but I ended up just getting blue screens and had to restore. Couple things though;

1. nTune still does not display my cards clock speeds. Is this because nTune doesnt support the new 7 series? I tried installing the latest nTune version but that didnt help.
2. Is rivatuner compatable with the 7 series and with the latest forceware drivers? Wehn I start it up I get a message saying that it is not compatable.
3. Why are the clockspeeds that rivatuner sees different then from what they are suppose to be? My card is suppose to be 550/1580 and rivatuner says 480/750.
4. last question, maybe some guys witn the 2405fpw could chime in on this. normally when you install a new monitor, before yuou install the drivers it will be listed as a plug and play monitor, then once you get the drivers installed it will display its actual name and model. Well with my monitor BEFORE I install the drivers its listed as a dell 2405fpw, then once i install the drivers its listed as a plug and play. This has been happening ever since I bought it. Nothing seems to be affected by it, but Im just wondering if its something that should concern me.

Thanks for all the help so far guys.
