Mopar Vehicle Protection

I think its the lifetime of the owner or if the vehicle is wrecked in an accident. possible self-destruction at 100k should be the reason why someone would wanted such a warranty, no?

Man, that has to cost a pretty penny. There is no way Chrysler would offer a plan like that without it benefiting them in the long term. Money up front vs risk down the road. I'd bet they're hoping people buy this warranty and then end up either wrecking the car, selling it or otherwise wearing out the car completely before they need to pay for costly repairs. Probably a pretty good bet.

No way would I buy that warranty. But then again there is no way I'd buy a Chrysler either.

About $3500 for $32K vehicle; note that it is NOT transferable. Also towing, rental etc expire at 7yr/100K, so it becomes a hassle to use this warranty after that time. Also note that even a Chrysler should be able to limp along until 7/100 🙂

I would read the fine print carefully too. I'd bet there is a ton of things they could deny coverage on for any reason they like.

A friend of mine had the turbo go out on his Dodge turbo-diesel and even though he had an extended warranty they didn't cover the turbo. Cost him more than $5k to replace.

I never buy an extended warranty! If any item that I purchase "needs" an extended warranty, I just do not buy that make/model. I self insure my purchases.
But I do have friends who never get out of a store without buying extended warranty for their new toy, whether it is $500 camera or $30K vehicle.
May be I am talking to the wrong guy but didn't you buy the extended warranty on your CPO MB? If so, you should not be criticizing Mopar 🙂
